Hi there,

EMAIL_BACKEND = 'django.core.mail.backends.*smtp.EmailBackend'*
*EMAIL_HOST = 'smtp.gmail.com '*
*EMAIL_PORT = 587*
*EMAIL_USE_TLS = True*
*EMAIL_HOST_USER = os.environ.get('DB_USER')*
*EMAIL_HOST_PASSWORD = os.environ.get('DB_PASSWORD')*
in this code you just need to provide that email on which you will receive
the email i means that gmail account why you use the db user or db
password ?
here the solution to receive emails like
*EMAIL_HOST_USER = exam...@gmail.com *
*EMAIL_HOST_PASSWORD = 12345678*

problem with using generic views

2015-08-08 Thread Doaa Hassan
Hi all,

I am trying to convert poll app introduced on:

https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.8/intro/tutorial01/

 to use the generic views system as described on:

https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.8/intro/tutorial04/

 However, when I convert the URLconf by opening the polls/urls.py and
change it like so:

from django.conf.urls import url
from . import views
urlpatterns = [
url(r'^$', views.IndexView.as_view(), name='index'),
url(r'^(?P[0-9]+)/$', views.DetailView.as_view(), name='detail'),
url(r'^(?P[0-9]+)/results/$', views.ResultsView.as_view(),
name='results'),
url(r'^(?P[0-9]+)/vote/$', views.vote, name='vote'),]

then reload the polls app (http://localhost:8000/polls/), I got the following
error:

'module' object has no attribute 'IndexView'

working with forms , problem !!!

2011-12-11 Thread Hassan
Dear All ,
am trying to make a form and i used an example from the book but its
not working , dont know why ?

this is what i have :

models.py :
from django.db import models
from django import forms

class ContactForm(forms.Form):
subject = forms.CharField(max_length=100)
message = forms.CharField()
sender = forms.EmailField()
cc_myself = forms.BooleanField(required=False)
--
views.py:
from django.shortcuts import render_to_response
from models import ContactForm
def contact(request):
if request.method == 'POST': # If the form has been submitted...
form = ContactForm(request.POST) # A form bound to the POST
data
if form.is_valid(): # All validation rules pass
# Process the data in form.cleaned_data
# ...
return HttpResponseRedirect('/thanks/') # Redirect after
POST
else:
form = ContactForm() # An unbound form

return render_to_response('contact.html', {
'form': form,
})

contact.html:

{% csrf_token %}
{{ form.as_p }}

i keep getting this :

Forbidden (403)

CSRF verification failed. Request aborted.
Help

Reason given for failure:

CSRF token missing or incorrect.

In general, this can occur when there is a genuine Cross Site Request
Forgery, or when Django's CSRF mechanism has not been used correctly.
For POST forms, you need to ensure:

The view function uses RequestContext for the template, instead of
Context.
In the template, there is a {% csrf_token %} template tag inside
each POST form that targets an internal URL.
If you are not using CsrfViewMiddleware, then you must use
csrf_protect on any views that use the csrf_token template tag, as
well as those that accept the POST data.

You're seeing the help section of this page because you have DEBUG =
True in your Django settings file. Change that to False, and only the
initial error message will be displayed.

You can customize this page using the CSRF_FAILURE_VIEW setting.

Re: Help using internationalization feature

2011-03-14 Thread hassan
take a look at
http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.2/topics/i18n/internationalization/
it is clear,
but for short:

1 - in .py files:
from django.utils.translation import ugettext as _
and mark each text you want to traslate like this _("My string")

2 - in .html files:
{% load i18n %}
and mark with {% trans "My string" %}

How to use CreateView?

2011-03-11 Thread hassan
Hi,

I am testing django 1.3 class based generic views. I have a model like
this one:

class Book(models.Model):
name = models.CharField(max_length=50)
author = models.CharField(max_length=50)

and in views.py:

class BookUpdateView(CreateView):
model = Book
template_name = "create_book.html"

and in create_book.html

...

But when i press the save button it form it does nothing!
What's wrong with me?

How to get model name from foreignkey field?

2011-03-05 Thread Hassan
I am writing a view that controls multiple models.
I use Model._meta.fields to access model fields and use
value_from_object() to get its value
but for foreignkeys it returns the object_id, but I don't know which
model is this.

Is there any way to get the foreignkey fields model?

just do this

from subprocess import Popen, PIPE
p = Popen([cmd], stdout=PIPE)
p.stdout.readlines()

thats it!

Handling Facebook development in Django

2010-01-25 Thread Hassan Baig
Howdy folks,

I was wondering if you could give me any pointers in this regard. I'm a
Facebook developer and I'm facing the following problem:

I have a flash file which calls up a url say http://test.com/createXML/ which
is caught and used up by a python/django code and it creates and redirects
to an XML. which is loaded by flash, to get values from the database.

The setup works fine when outside facebook, but as soon as I put the setup
in facebook, it stops loading the XML completely.

Any clues?

-Hassan Baig
