Re: Introducing DjangoSites.Org
Hi Kai, thank you for the screenshot. My resolution is 1024x768, too and it looks the same as on your screenshot. i first thought you meant the design is broken and some text being out of bounds. i guess Christian expected the same and he suggested to make the design all fluid and this is what i did and i was just going to send a new style.css to ross. but i see that is not the point and not necessary. font-sizes are already relative and i am not going to change anything for now. as this is not a django related problem or a feature request for djangosites.org and no one else has complained about this i would set up a test page with a small change and invite you to have a look there rather than discussing it here. if anyone else has questions/suggestions about the design, feel free to contact me directly. maddiin On 24 Jun., 21:56, "Kai Kuehne" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi wathi, > > On 6/24/07, wathi <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > > > hi Kai, > > > thanks for your input. i would appreciate if you could attach a > > screenshot. > > > i am not a professional designer (yet;]), so i am lacking some > > knowledge. especially when it comes to font-size vs screen resolution. > > i promise i will investigate this so it will hopefully look convenient > > on your laptop in the near future. > > I attached the screenshot. Re: Introducing DjangoSites.Org
I just hit it - looks nice - I like the tag cloud. I have been meaning to hit it ever sense I saw your post, but today I had a need and was hoping DjangoSites.Org would help. what follows is not related to content, I realize it is new and will improve over time. As a 'visitor' I get the feeling that I need to create an account to get full access to just browsing. or, maybe what I am looking for isn't here. (I havn't signed up) There should be a "list all sites" (pages of 30 or so at a time) and a "Search." For instance, right now I am looking for an event calender and a message board. (I'll start a separate thread for my quest - keep this to ds.org comments.) So I hit the site, and about all I can do is look at the tags. I am guessing that the lack of "calender" and "forum/message/blah" tags means I am out of luck for now, but A) im not 100% sure of this and B) what if someone was looking for something more obscure that wasn't a likely tag? and given that I am looking for code to use, it might be worth a dedicated field (as opposed to a tag) listing the availability of the code. I am guessing ds.org was meant as a marketing tool for django, but it seems it could easily be a developers resource as well. Re: Introducing DjangoSites.Org
It would be great if there was some sort of "Thanks for the submission! We will post your site after it is reviewed.." notice after submitting each site. Right now it just dumps you back in the homepage w/ no feedback as to whether the site submission was received or not. Otherwise, looks great so far! Thanks for putting this up.. That way, I can tell whether I want to check out the new site or not without having to go there first. * It may be a good idea to have a more prominent link to the feed in the page itself.
