Re: [DNG] Devuan, Firefox and Apulse
All, Thanks for all the great input. Happy to report I've ditched Chrom* in favor of Palemoon. Noscript and UBlock Origin plugins install fine. Youtube and ALSA working well. Thanks for all the tips! ___ Dng mailing list Dng@lists.dyne.org https://mailinglists.dyne.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/dng

Ok thanks. In that case I will add the proposed updates repo and then wait for amprolla3. —Tom > On 28 Sep 2017, at 05:23, . fsmithredwrote: > > I don't think anything is coming through ascii-security. I don't think anything is coming through ascii-security. This will probably change when amprolla3 is operational. I expect that will happen soon. Around the same time, I hope that beowulf repos get set up. On Wed, Sep 27, 2017 at 10:52 AM, Tom Cassidywrote: > Is that documented anywhere? I have seen projects suggest IRC channels as a place to ask a question, because the people who hang out there tend to be knowledgable. I have *never* seen a project suggest searching IRC logs for answers, because IRC tends to ramble and finding a coherent answer is difficult at best. Nor is botbot an obvious Devuan resource. [DNG] Gnome?
Quote: "Yes, we do want them, because we want enough users of Gnome here so we can tell the Gnome project to make systemd conditional in their source tree, and to accept the patches we (and others) will send upstream." Pushing systemd down Gnome users' throats is part of their marketing strategy. How are you going to convince the Gnome developers not to use anything to that helps them attain their goals? Is it enough to state the already stated about systemd and its adoption? I am afraid the developers are too enthusiastic about systemd's new ways to accept the olden ways. ___ Dng mailing list Dng@lists.dyne.org https://mailinglists.dyne.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/dng

Exactly. The OP (Original Poster) prioritized having Gnome3 over everything else, so I'm sure he'll be quite happy remaining in systemd land. John --- the list suggested Mate and several other wonderful WMDEs to the OP, but he demanded his Gnome3, which is unlikely to ever appear in Devuan because the chance of finding someone having both a love of Gnome3 and the tech chops to depoetterize it is slim. Which means this thread has outlived its usefulness. Is that documented anywhere? I would have thought it would come through to ascii-security as that one is listed on the Devuan website at https://devuan.org/os/etc/apt/sources.list. apache2 version 2.4.25-3+deb9u3 is in ascii-proposed-updates. I believe that's where the strech security updates are going. In the "teach a man to fish" department, set up your apt sources.list to track the Devuan releases you are willing to install from, e.g. jessie and ascii, and then something like sudo apt-get update for release in jessie ascii; do apt-get depends network-manager/$release | grep systemd done Much more authorative and up-to-date than IRC logs.
