Have you yet checked what packages are installed by default in the
several existing Devuan-family ISOs? logically, you should start by
reporting the results of that checking. Please let us know what you find.

If you don't like any of the existing ISOs, you are of course welcome to
create one whose default package selection you prefer. Or perhaps write
preseed instructions to feed to d-i. Or both.

Maybe I'm judging too hastily, but your post reads like trying to
implicitly ask other people to do work. IMO, it would be more
constructive to help the project by pitching in.

Personally, I find debates about default package selection on a highly
modular distro with excellent package management a poor use of time,
that is better spent acquainting newcomers with apt-get and with the
welcome-to-Linux realisation that running through OS installers is the
beginning of system configuration, not the end of it.

Lennart Poettering has repeatedly and with certainty let us know he has

isn't certified POSIX is no excuse for deliberately leaving out easily
included POSIX programs and features.

Is it possible for Devuan to "put back" what Debian sabotaged?

Thanks,

Probably. Are you going to volunteer to do/oversee that? That would be
the best way to ensure that it happens.

This article was posted on irc a few days ago. It might, in part,
explain why packages/features are being dropped from Debian. If Debian
can't find developers, what do you think Devuan's future holds?

Beyond Debian/Devuan, this is a challenge for the future of

Re: [DNG] Iceweasel-uxp from Hyperbola GNU/Linux

2020-09-12 Thread aitor

Hi,

On 10/9/20 13:59, aitor wrote:
Since the i386 packages need to be cross-compiled, iceweasel-uxp is

packages.gnuinos.org for now; so, you need to download them one by

# dpkg -i *.deb

as Antony pointed out.

I uploaded the packages for i386:

https://www.gnuinos.org/iceweasel-uxp/

If you try to build the sources directly via:

$ ./mach build

then you'll get the following error: "ERROR: Cannot find project
iceweasel-uxp" because
you need to patch build/moz.configure/init.configure, as I explained in
the forum of Hyperbola:

https://forums.hyperbola.info/viewtopic.php?pid=2293#p2293

Anybody tried building under 32 bits?

Cheers,

Aitor.
