These are terms from the proprietary software, not FOSS. If you are running the current stable version of Devuan and using FOSS software, then the list can generally assist. Otherwise, keep web searching and good luck because if you are going proprietary bleeding edge with AMD, then you are going to do a lot of bleeding. BTDT. IME, the AMD forums were largely useless as well. YMMV. > > Opencl I think is used in CAD programs (FreeCAD and libreCAD here) so > 1. install the further options > > or > > do not install the further options > > Please (advice is requested) IMO, This option. When the software plays up, web search and you may find instructions. IME, with stable it usually just involves installing a few libraries/drivers. With testing, you may have to go to source and compile and then reconcile conflicting packages. FWIW. aptitude search opengl|wc -l =81 on chimaera, and aptitude search mesa|wc -l =70 on chimaera. ___ Dng mailing list Dng@lists.dyne.org https://mailinglists.dyne.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/dng
[DNG] Further question on graphics drivers
Greetings Have completed an install onto a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X and am running a Radeon 570x graphics card. Driver comes up as amdgpu . https://amdgpu-install.readthedocs.io/en/latest/install-prereq.html If I followed the above url;'s destructions it is possible to add further 'enhancements' like opencl, opengl, vulkan and maybe more. This is now called 'workstation' where before it was 'pro'. Opencl I think is used in CAD programs (FreeCAD and libreCAD here) so 1. install the further options or do not install the further options Please (advice is requested) TIA ___ Dng mailing list Dng@lists.dyne.org https://mailinglists.dyne.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/dng

More detailed, but > certainly not complete: > Well - - - - reporting time. I might have used this method but my move was already happening when this suggestion appeared. Setup new system (partitioning) to newer ideas. Installed devuan daedalus (testing). Once system was working I then copied /home from the previous system using # rsnyc -avxrKSH user@oldsystem(192.168.x.x):/home/ /home/ that only took some 6ish hours. Next step was to backup my raid-10 array to a new 2 TB HDD, which will be pulled from the new system and only used for this purpose. So - - - back to waiting for a PCIe card for more SATA spots, and the cabling for such. (Mobo seemed to have lots of ports at 8 but I've got 5 used before the raid array or the previous system disc so more ports are needed.) I will have to look into rsync some more - - - - seems like a useful tool - - - thanks to those that suggested its use. Thanks to one and all that gave input. Kudus!!!
