I think yes. consolekit (without 2) seems to have issues with ck-lauch-session in combination with displaymanagers like sddm. This was actually the reason for me to package elogind in the hope it will work better with sddm. But in order for elogind tobe useful, other packages need to be adjusted (udisks...) These issues seem to be fixed in consolekit2. cheers, Andreas -- gnuPG keyid: 8C2BAF51 fingerprint: 28EE 8438 E688 D992 3661 C753 90B3 BAAA 8C2B AF51 signature.asc Description: PGP signature ___ Dng mailing list Dng@lists.dyne.org https://mailinglists.dyne.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/dng
[DNG] consolekit2
Do we need consolekit2 packaged? I've spent a few hours to make initial packaging and installed it instead of old consolekit. So far so good, I'm able suspend my pc and mount usb drives from Thunar. If dev1 needs it I can afford a bit more time to polish it and prepare for uploading. ___ Dng mailing list Dng@lists.dyne.org https://mailinglists.dyne.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/dng

The alternatives are: * systemd-shim: allowing @#$%^&* to run when not as pid1, currently in Debian, reported to have recently broken, was always broken for me * consolekit: dead upstream and unmaintained for ages, rebuilding against it _mostly_ works but will degrade soon; I do so in my repository * loginkit: a clean implementation from scratch, sadly vapourware * elogind: carving a piece of the blob; apparently unmaintained for a while * consolekit2: not that active (~1 commit/month, last in Nov) but still seems the most alive one I don't know of any recent packaging of CK2, newest I found is from Dec 2014. As around 25394753978 pieces of software now come with a hard dependency on logind, I guess providing them with an implementation should be far less work than trying to do without. Re: [DNG] ConsoleKit2
Hi David, Can you point to the packaging sources? We'd certainly be keen to include it in Devuan if that's possible. Thanks for the heads up Regards, Daniel. Apparently due to the systemd agenda of it's original maintainers, ConsoleKit is "deprecated". https://mail.gnome.org/archives/distributor-list/2012-January/msg2.html Consolekit2 is forked and actively maintained by XFCE4 maintainer Eric Koegel. https://consolekit2.github.io/ConsoleKit2/ It works. Consolekit2 has been successfully deb-packaged and used here (since even before Devuan) up to the latest "stable release" (1.0.2). Is anyone interested? [Dng] Consolekit2
Hi, I am not sure if you guys are aware or not, but Consolekit2 is the original endeavor of Eric Koegel I believe [1], yet I see no mention of his name on the Devuan December 22 newsletter [2] under the Research - Consolekit heading. I am not affiliated to Consolekit2 in any way, just wanted to mentioned this from a fairness POV.
