Re: Thoughts for moving forward

2022-06-08 Thread Keith N. McKenna

Thanks everybody for your input.I agree that that the 4.2.0 schedule is
so nebulous that it makes sense to forge ahead with the 4.1.x
documentation.I will start splitting my time with getting the Getting
Started one files published to the wiki and starting the review of the
Writer and Calk guides.

If we can all start Doing issues and assigning ourselves to them in the
project so that we know who is doing what and then closing the issue
when the work is completed it will go a long way towards knowing where
we are at any point in time. Francis for know just post on the list what
you are working on and either Digro or I will assign you to the issue.

Again, thank you all for ypur ideas and the hard work that you have
doneto move us closer to having Sold documentation for the users.

Regards
Keith

There are

are available.  The supplement will also earn feedback for things that

Thanks for your recommendation Dennis. It was an approach I hadn't
thought of. I am hoping that I will from the other members of the team
as well so that we can come to consensus on the path.

I agree with Dennis that we should not wait for 4.2. I doubt that the
changes between 4.1.x and 4.2 will cause anything like the number of
revisions needed to update the existing guides

Fortunately that's not fact...

  to match the current release
and the schedule for 4.2 cannot even be guessed. Let's just plow ahead.

But that's true. Don't wait for 4.2.0. ;-)

Already started  first round of review for Impress and Draw.

So, I agree not to wait for 4.2.0 but trying to fullfill 4.1.x on built
on from there

With the Getting Started Guide done, and the Writer and Calc Guides ready for
review; it is time to consider how we want to move ahead.

I see 2 paths forward.
Each has advantages and disadvantages that should be discussed

1) continue working on the rest of the Guides for 4.1
Advantage is it gets a full set of up to date guides available
Disadvantage is it cuts down time for preparing the changes for
4.2

2) Get the Writer and Calc Guides finished and start working on the
guides for 4.2.
Advantage is it gives the Team more time to prepare the changes
for 4.2, which could be extensive
Disadvantage is that the road-map for a 4.2 release is still
very fluid with no clear end in sight.

Please respond with your thoughts on the best way forward.

Keith
