[libreoffice-documentation] Draw Guide Chapter 8 Completely New Version

2012-10-02 Thread PeeWee
Hello

The original Chap 08 Tips & Tricks in version LO3.4 has been deleted. It did
not contain any tips or tricks, just instructions that have now been moved
to the following chapters:

Zoom and snap functions to Chap 03.
Duplication to Chap 05.
Color, drawing to scale, multiple layers and pages to Chap 09 Advanced Draw
Techniques.

With the deletion of Chap 08 Tips & Tricks, Chap 09 is renumbered to Chap 08
and Chap 10 is renumbered to Chap 09. File names are changed to reflect this
change of chapter number.

The name of this new Chapter 8 is now Connections, Flowcharts and
Organization Charts and the file name is now
DG3508-ConnectionsFlowchartsOrganizationCharts.odt

I will be correcting cross references in the other chapters to reflect these
changes.

Please review and comment on these changes.

Regards

PeterS

[libreoffice-documentation] Re: Draw Guide Chapter 8 Completely New Version

2012-10-02 Thread PeeWee
Forgot to add.

One completely new Chap 8 is now in the Draw LO3.5 drafts folder waiting for
review.

I think the documentation page in the LO website will have to be changed
slightly to accommodate these changes.

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Re: Draw Guide Chapter 8 Completely New Version

2012-10-02 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
I think that when the wiki gets updated that automatically updates the official
web-site's page too.  The official page uses the same link as the wiki.  Of
course that is only going to work when updating existing chapters that have
already been added to the official page.  New versions, such as the 3.6.x
haven't been added to the official page yet so updating them on the wiki
doesn't spill over onto the official page.

Errr, i think that's how it works?  Hopefully that clarifies things but i tend
to find i only confuse people and get it wrong too!
Apols and regards from
Tom :)

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Draw Guide Chapter 8 Completely New Version

2012-10-02 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
Hmmm, a tips&tricks might be useful but obviously not if it's empty!  If the
numbering changes then i can kinda deal with it on the wiki but it's not likely
to be as tidy as i would like.  If the tips&tricks is going to vanish
completely then i would like to create a new page for archived¤t for the
moment and then make it purely for archived after 3.6.x starts to appear on the
official website's page

Wiki is
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Publications
Official is
http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/documentation/

Base would appear on both for the moment.

Ideally i would like to delay splitting the wiki until after the 3.6.x guides
are linked to from the official page because then it would all be quite neat
and wouldn't need to change much.  However life doesn't always go the way we
want right?

Tom :)

[libreoffice-documentation] Re: Draw Guide Chapter 8 Completely New Version

2012-10-02 Thread PeeWee
Hello Tom

There are definitely no tips and tricks. The information contained in the
LO3.4 Chap 8 Tips & Tricks was confusing and poorly written. When I started
to upgrade it to LO3.5, I realised that all the information was just
instructions on how to do things in Draw. I did discuss this with Jean and
Jean did say OK to my suggestions.

So the LO3.4 Chap 8 Tips & Tricks has been deleted and will not appear in
LO.35 draw guide. The LO3.4 Chaps 9 and 10 are now LO3.5 Chaps 8 and 9.

Hope that helps.

Regards

PeterS

2012-10-02 Thread Jean Weber
Tom, the official website page (unlike the wiki) no longer lists individual
chapters. We'll have to amend the wiki page; I have some ideas on how to do
that with minimal or no confusion to visitors. I encourage you to NOT make any
changes immediately, please.

[libreoffice-documentation] [WIKI] wanted extensions

2012-10-02 Thread Florian Effenberger

Hello,

sorry for the crossposting, but I wanted to reach out to the wider
community. Please *only* reply to webs...@global.libreoffice.org so we
have the list in one place - thanks!

As part of the new wiki setup, I'd also like to install some more
extensions. If I recall, there have been numerous requests we couldn't
fulfill so far, and now is the chance to do so. :-)

So, if you have one extension you desperately need, please add it to
this thread, so I can investigate and have a look! My clear preference
is to use one of the extensions out of the WikiMedia-maintained
repository. [1] Any other extension causes a lot of more work, so please
think twice before requesting an extension not listed there.

Also keep in mind that any extension creates a bit more load, so we
should only install those that are really needed for production. For
anything else, e.g. for trying out new extensions before deciding about
them, I'll provide a "testbed" wiki soon.

Thanks for your feedback ;)
Florian

[libreoffice-documentation] Reorganising the Publications page on the wiki

2012-10-02 Thread Jean Weber
Here is my opinion about reorganising the Publications page on the
*wiki*. Please feel free to suggest a different approach.

I think we should move the links for v3.3 and v3.4 to an archive page
and keep v3.5 (and v3.6/v3.7 when we have them) on the main
Publications page. For those books (such as the Writer Guide) that do
not yet have a 3.5 version, we should keep the v3.4 chapters and books
on the main Publications page and move them later.

The website page is organised differently and need not concern us at this time.

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Reorganising the Publications page on the wiki

2012-10-02 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
+1
That sounds neater for now and both pages (archive and normal) would continue
to make sense as we move each branch across after making sure a newer one is
always complete on the normal page.  At first it might seem a bit weird to have
a new page just for 1 set of guides but it will soon make sense.

Tom :)
