Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Calc Guide - Update and Review Process

2020-05-19 Thread kees538

Hi Steve

One question.
How do we know a file is ready for a second review? Meaning the author
has inspected the proposed changes and had accepts all. Should we add a
notification in the Guide status sheet?

Regards, Kees

All,

To clarify my own thoughts and, hopefully, to help anybody else who
wishes
to be involved, I have tried to write down the steps involved in
updating

and reviewing one chapter of the Calc Guide. Please see below.

(Please note that I am not intending to define the steps involved for
any

other guides!)

If anybody feels that what I have written is illogical, or not in
accordance with the Team’s agreed procedures, then please let us know
through the mailing list.

Regards,

Steve

(1) Initial update.
(a) Author copies master version of source file from relevant folder in
Nextcloud to own computer. The master version of the source file would
usually be found in the Published folder for the previous issue.
(b) Author enables recording of track changes and edits the chapter as
required.
(c) Author updates first part of file name to reflect issue of document
and

adds initials and date to file name (for example,
CG6408-PivotTables-SF-09May2020).
(d) Author copies updated file to Draft folder in Nextcloud.
(e) Author amends tracking spreadsheet to reflect status of updated
chapter.

(2) First review.
(a) First reviewer amends tracking spreadsheet to indicate that he /
she is

performing the first review.
(b) First reviewer copies updated file from Draft folder in Nextcloud
to

own computer.
(c) First reviewer enables recording of track changes and reviews file.
This may result in edits to the text to fix problems or may involve
inserting comments that need to be addressed.
(d) First reviewer adds initials and date to file name (for example,
CG6408-PivotTables-SF-LMO-16May2020).
(e) First reviewer copies updated file to Feedback folder in Nextcloud.
(f) First reviewer amends tracking spreadsheet to reflect status of
updated

chapter.

(3) Responding to first review.
(a) Author copies updated file from Feedback folder in Nextcloud to own
computer.
(b) Author inspects proposed changes and accepts all that are
acceptable,
discusses with first reviewer any significant rejections or comments
that

need resolution.
(c) Author accepts all changes to date and returns updated file to
Draft

folder in Nextcloud.
(d) Author amends tracking spreadsheet to reflect status of updated
chapter.

(4) Second review.
(a) Second reviewer amends tracking spreadsheet to indicate that he /
she

is performing the second review.
(b) Second reviewer copies updated file from Draft folder in Nextcloud
to

own computer.
(c) Second reviewer enables recording of track changes and reviews
file.

This may result in edits to the text to fix problems or may involve
inserting comments that need to be addressed.
(d) Second reviewer adds initials and date to file name (for example,
CG6408-PivotTables-SF-LMO-KK-25May2020).
(e) Second reviewer copies updated file to Feedback folder in
Nextcloud.

(f) Second reviewer amends tracking spreadsheet to reflect status of
updated chapter.

(5) Publishing.
(a) Author copies updated file from Feedback folder in Nextcloud to own
computer.
(b) Author inspects proposed changes and accepts all that are
acceptable,
discusses with second reviewer any significant rejections or comments
that

need resolution.
(c) Author accepts all changes to date and removes all initials and
dates

from the file name.
(d) Author returns updated file to Published folder in Nextcloud.
(e) Author amends tracking spreadsheet to reflect status of updated
chapter.

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Calc Guide - Update and Review Process

2020-05-19 Thread Stephen Fanning
Hi Kees,

Good question!

If we follow the process, then I think that the tracking spreadsheet will
already have enough information. A file should be ready for second review
if:
(1) The first review is complete, indicated by the relevant "Return date"
being populated.
(2) The author has moved the file from Feedback to Draft, indicated by the
Status column showing "In Draft".

Regards,

Steve

[libreoffice-documentation] Calc Solvers Info Doc/wiki page Re: Calc solvers - what to say in the Calc Guide

2020-05-19 Thread Drew Jensen
Howdy,

Adding The Documentation ML to the thread.
Quick recap for the folks on the list:
Currently the LibreOffice wiki includes under the FAQs section a
question on Calc Solvers.
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Faq/Calc/109
The answer in the second sentence, for languages other then French,
refer the user back to the AOO wiki for information specific to the
NLSolver extension from Sun Microsystems. That answer page also refers
the user to API information via the AOO SDK.

The French language answer points to a copy (it appears) of that page
translated to French but hosted on the LibreOffice wiki.

So - drafted a LibreOffice specific version of the information found
on the AOO wiki.
This draft adds information to cover the five solver engines which
ship with the TDF baseline LibreOffice code (including the coming
7.0).

The latest update to the draft
https://nextcloud.documentfoundation.org/s/ebisHjZo2rowM4Q

There is one final change I'd like to make and that is the example; I
would like to switch the basic code out for an example that uses the
spreadsheet and model used in the data analytics section of the Calc
Guide. I'll be working on that tonight.

Otherwise - any review of the current state of the document is most
welcome. At the moment the file is in my private storage space on the
NC server; I would prefer to move it to the shared documentation
folder but wasn't sure where to put it?

Thanks,

Drew

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Writer Guide 6.4 Chapter 4

2020-05-19 Thread Jean Weber
I have gone through chapter 4 and accepted changes and made a few
minor changes myself - mainly deleting obsolete information which you
flagged as "didn't work", also a bit of detail on AutoCorrect that I
think is no longer needed, as it is in the Help.

I did not do a full review on this chapter, so if anyone else has time
to look at it, that would be good. It's in the Feedback folder.

[libreoffice-documentation] Writer 6.4 Guide chapters 13 and 16

2020-05-19 Thread Jean Weber
I find a file for Chapter 13 (Tables of Data), marked SB_20200505, in
the Feedback folder. However, as far as I can tell, no changes have
been made in this file, and the Status spreadsheet shows it as checked
out & updated, but no "actual return date". A file with the same name
is in the Drafts folder, also unchanged.

In the Drafts folder is also Chapter 16 (Master Docs), marked
SB_20201905, also apparently unchanged. It's marked on the Status
spreadsheet as checked out by SB.

Please advise what's going on here.

[libreoffice-documentation] Templates documentation (should Working with Styles mention templates)?

2020-05-19 Thread Luke (gmail)

I just installed the DocumentTemplateChanger extension.
A suggestion I should ensure "that the styles in the templates take
precedence on those in the document" made me wonder how I ensure that.

I had a look at the styles document, but the word Template does not appear.

Hence my question.

(Using Google searches to find how to use templates after you've created
them, and especially what the recommendation above meant, about styles
priority, isn't proving very successful.

I suspect using templates is very simple: you open a template and then
just use the styles and definitions it provides.

As for the style priority question, I guess I'll keep looking.
