Hi everyone

I’ve been called back to work so will have to duck out of reviews in the
week. Can someone please help Peter with the Impress Guide until I can get
up and running again? Thanks

[libreoffice-documentation] Impress Guide

2020-07-14 Thread Claire Wood
Hi Peter and LibreOffice

I’ve been called back to work this week so I’m way busy with stuff here
that I cannot do anything on the Impress Guide anymore. If things
change, I'll let you know, but going forward an extra reviewer to support
you would be good.

Hi Peter and everyone, I've completed my review up to and including chapter
5 now. Nothing major to report on function, it was more formatting and
document flow comments I made.

I can't make this meeting sorry. I'm not very good at converting time
zones. Is it happening today or another day?

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Calc Guide, Chapter 6, Print Export Email Sign

2019-07-01 Thread Claire Wood
Hi Caroline

Whether instructional designer or tech writer, basic rule applies... keep
it simple and make it easy to follow and read. Ultimately I think the
decision will probably be made by Jean or Olivier but I found the more I
was reading yesterday in that section of the chapter, the difficult it got
to follow but then I didn’t have a break.

Your last comment says the apply option is in bold. It wasn’t until I
changed it but in hindsight as it’s not a button, maybe it should be in
italics.

[libreoffice-documentation] Calc Guide, Chapter 6, Print Export Email Sign

2019-06-30 Thread Claire Wood
Hi Everyone, here are my suggested changes to Chapter 6 of the Calc Guide:

Calc Guide Chapter 6, Controlling Printing
Page 6
A screenshot would be helpful

Defining & naming, Page 11. This section needs to be tested by someone
else. I couldn't get the Add button to work.

Deleting a named print range, page 12, Figure 12.
The screenshot would be best placed after it is referenced, not a page away
because it's difficult to follow otherwise.

Page 13 - Figure 13 should be moved to where it is first referenced, as
stated for Figure 12.

Page 17, Setting Headers and Footers
Step 2 - there's an extra key stroke on Go. Please delete the "t" at the
end of the word.

Page 22, Links page of PDF Options dialog
Convert document references to PDF targets

Shouldn't the file types referenced be in a Code format e.g. Courier New so
they easily stand out and are easier to read?

Page 22, Links page of PDF options dialog
Export URLs relative to file system

Shouldn't the reference to the Help file stand out a bit more as a cross
reference?

Page 25, Digital signing of documents
Second paragraph

The words "kind of" change the meaning of this paragraph. I recommend to
remove, there is either a checksum or there isn't.

Page 26, Digital signing of documents
Last paragraph.

Shouldn't the cross reference to Digital signatures stand out a bit more?

Page 28, Removing personal data
2nd bullet

Shouldn't the "Apply user data" be in bold? It's describing an option and
can be easily missed when reading.

[libreoffice-documentation] Calc Guide Chapter 4 - Styles and Templates

2019-06-08 Thread Claire Wood
Please see below my review comments for Chapter 4 of Calc Guide CG6204:

P7 of Styles and Templates CG6204 - Fill Format Mode - It needs some icon
graphics in this section.

P7 - Apply Style List - The word "option" needs to be added between "list"
and "is" in the first sentence.

P23 - Note. The "Save As Template" option should be in bold shouldn't it?

P24 - Caution. The word "Caution" appears in yellow and can't be read on
the white background.

P28 - Exporting a template, Step 1. Should the word "Templates" from
"Templates diaglog" be in bold?

[libreoffice-documentation] Review Comments for CG6202 - Enter Edit Format Data

2019-06-08 Thread Claire Wood
Please see my review comments below for Calc Guide Chapter 6202:

Page 12 Calc Guide - CG6202 Enter Edit Format Data Chapter > Series Type &
Time Unit - the leader sentences are missing.

Page 14 - Note - shouldn't this be a caution or warning as it can lead to
errors that are generated by this action?

Page 15 - I couldn't get the Sharing Content between Sheets to work, can
someone else try it please, as it could just be me.

Data > Validity section I think may look better if there's a graphic with
an example at the end of each page/tab section. It would bring it to life
more.

p18 Delete cells has a minor chanage added

p19 Deleting data and formatting - the leader sentence was missing

p22 Bullet point about Shift Cells had a character missing

p24 Formatting Fonts - a bit long winded to describe a drop-down menu so
suggest it is changed from the select "the triangle..." wording.

p27 Format Cells > Borders - I've put prompts in where I think graphics
should be added in square brackets.

p27 - Note. Shouldn't "shift-click" be Shft+Click?

p28 - A screenshot would be good at the end of the "Defining a new
Autoformat" Section.

p29 - Using Themes introduction had a missed key stroke in the word
"styles".

p32, Color Scale & Data bars & Icon Sets. Shouldn't "All Cells" be in bold
as an option that has been selected, to be consistent with formatting in
the manuals as a whole?

p45 - Shouldn't the Note be a Caution? It's warning against the user's
error.

[libreoffice-documentation] Calc Guide

2019-05-22 Thread Claire Wood
Hi All

Now that I've been able to get in the document repository, I've read
through the error codes chapter and it looks fine, and have updated the
spreadsheet to reflect that.

Can someone (e.g. Jean or Olivier) let me know what you want me to review
next as I wasn't sure if the spreadsheet is being kept up-to-date.

Thanks

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Where do you want me to start?

2019-04-30 Thread Claire Wood
I'm waiting for a login as I've only just gone to TDF, so tomorrow I will
start reviewing Calc, but it would help me to know if there are certain
chapters that I should concentrate on, so I'm not duplicating effort.

Kind regards

Claire

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Getting Started Guide - p41

2019-04-29 Thread Claire Wood
Oh no. Is there a repository to upload images? Just thinking about the
author(s) already working on the manual.

With Olivier saying Calc is more important I was planning on starting on
that and using the Getting Started manual as a break.

[libreoffice-documentation] Getting Started Guide

2019-04-29 Thread Claire Wood
Hi, I'm currently reacquainting myself with the Getting Started guide and
have noticed the following:

Getting Started Guide
P38, Figure 18

This image is either out of date or there's an issue with the UI. It
doesn't show the print dialogs highlighted in the example. See attached
screenshot for clarification.

[libreoffice-documentation] Where do you want me to start?

2019-04-29 Thread Claire Wood
Hi Everyone

I once helped out on Open Office back in 2010, and I am a technical author
by trade. I'm looking for something to do a couple of hours a day or in the
week while I'm job hunting. I don't mind tackling the most complicated
stuff either. I've downloaded the latest version of LibreOffice, so just
let me know where you want me to start.

I won't be able to attend the documentation team meetings though because I
have to help out in library hours and my local one is shut at 7pm on
Wednesdays.

I’m having problems just downloading and installing otherwise I would be
starting to document for this version. For some reason it doesn’t like any
windows version!
