[libreoffice-documentation] Documentation Reviewer

2020-10-21 Thread Kevin Berry
Hi All,
I kind of fell off there, but I expect to get back into it this coming
summer. I am a high school teacher, as well as a computer science student,
so between being a teacher, and being a student, I have been so busy once
summer ended. I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of
things, once summer 2021 comes back around!

[libreoffice-documentation] Update on Ubuntu18

2020-07-25 Thread Kevin Berry
Anyone familiar with updating from LibreOffice 6.0 to 6.4, on Ubuntu 18.04?
I am used to using the terminal, using Bash, as I do most administrative
things in my OS from there.

I already added the LibreOffice PPA and updated my system. I saw
LibreOffice 6.4 all over the place when the update was happening, so I
think things were updated properly. However, when I do libreoffice
--version, it says I am still on 6.0

Anyone know how I can update from 6.0 to 6.4, in Ubuntu 18.04?

[libreoffice-documentation] CG6415 Calc Keyboard Shortcuts on macOS

2020-06-06 Thread Kevin Berry
I have completed the macOS review of keyboard shortcuts, using macOS Sierra
10.12.16, and it has been uploaded to the Feedback folder in NextCloud.
I found that there were a couple of shortcuts that were actually system
shortcuts, and also, some of the mac keyboard symbols didnt show properly
on macOS, whereas they showed just fine on Windows.

I like this stuff, thanks for allowing me to participate!!!

[libreoffice-documentation] Question: Recording Changes vs Track Changes

2020-06-05 Thread Kevin Berry
I have a couple of questions about recording vs tracking changes.
What is the difference between going to File > Properties > Security >
Record Changes versus Edit > Track Changes > Record ?

Also, when I am on macOS, there is a check mark in the Edit menu that
clearly indicates when Edit > Track Changes > Record is active, whereas I
dont see that at all in Windows- havent tried it in Linux.

Also, another thing I noticed is that there is View > Track Changes, which
I have noticed is what makes the colored strike-through, which shows me the
changes that have been made.

So my question is: What is the difference between "Track Changes" and
"Record Changes", and what is "Record Changes" actually doing?

[libreoffice-documentation] Re: Re[2]: Calc Error Codes Rev 1

2020-06-05 Thread Kevin Berry
Thank you for catching that mistake. Yes, it is a 532, not 503.

I didnt see the =ERRORTYPE(cell-address) in the chapter- maybe I just
overlooked it. Is that something that might be able to be added in there?

2020-06-05 Thread Kevin Berry
Yeah, the #DIV/0 might actually be a 532, huh? How do I make Calc show me
the error Code, not just the error Message?

What made me add that in there was that the explanation of that error
is " *Division
by 0*, or another calculation that results in an overflow of the defined
value range (*a value too big or too small*)."
Dividing by zero is the "too big" part of that.

I attached the spreadsheet I was using to replicate some of these errors.
The part that is relevant to this email is A2:E4

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Calc Guide – first reviews

Okay, Ill grab the error codes one. Did anyone pick up the keyboard
shortcuts on Mac? I see someone returned that chapter on June 3, but it's
not indicated on the spreadsheet f they reviewed it for macOS.

Should I use macOS to do the chapter CG6415KeyboardShortcuts, or has that
already been gotten?

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Date on Reviewed FIles

2020-05-28 Thread Kevin Berry
Okay, another question- I dont meant o be irritating or anything, sorry :)
Thanks for all of your replies.

I noticed the file guide names have dates like 27May2020, but then in the
spreadsheet, people are putting in dates like 27/05/20.

I looked at the Draw guide's status spreadsheet, and they have all of
theirs in numerical only format, like 27/05/20.

In the Calc status spreadsheet, do I spell out the month, or do I keep it
as only numerical?

Should the Calc status spreadsheet have 27May2020, or should it have
27/05/20?

[libreoffice-documentation] LibreOfice Calc First Timer

2020-05-25 Thread Kevin Berry
Hello, I am doing a secondary review as my first time doing anything with
you guys. This is actually my first time every participating in an open
source project whatsoever.

I am a high school science and math teacher, who uses spreadsheets a LOT,
which is what makes me want to be involved in the Calc documentation.

After downloading, changing the filename, turning on Track Changes: Record,
as per Steve Fanning's instructions, I think I am on the right track so far.

a) I have Track Changes: Record turned on (I think), which I did by Edit >
Track Changes > Record (or by Ctrl+Shift+C):

I think I confirmed this by checking File > Properties > Security > Record
Changes

b) I also got my name to show in my comments, by going to Tools > Options:

And then LibreOffice > User Data:

Which I confirmed by making a comment
(or by Ctrl+Alt+C):

and then seeing my name there now, when it was not before:

I have downloaded the file from the Drafts folder in NextCLoud, onto my
local machine, and changed the file name on my copy, which I will then put
into the Feedback folder when I am done.

However, to be honest, I have not yet placed my initials into the Guide
Stats CG spreadsheet, because I am a bit nervous that I am not doing
something correctly here, and I dont want to get ahead of myself.

So, as a noob, I am asking for some of your guys' first time experiences,
and am also wondering if I am going about this the right way so far.

DO you guys have safeguards in place, so I dont irreparably damage
anything?

Is there some critical mistake that anyone sees me making already?

Is there one piece of advice that you would travel back in time to tell
your younger self, which would have made your first time experience a lot
more enjoyable?

Is there anything that you can share with me that you wish someone would
have shared with you on your first time around?

Thanks for any advice you can give me. Im just trying to not get in
anybody's way, or make some kind of amateur mistake that will cause a
disruption to everyone else's productivity.
