Unlike the humungous outpourings of grief over Steve Jobs' death, there is 
little on the net about Dennis Ritchie.

I have nothing specific against Steve Jobs, but I would assert that Dennis, 
along with Ken Thompson and  Brian Kernighan contributed far more to the world 
of software and computers than Steve ever did.
