I hope this helps others with the same problem. On a 10.04 Ubuntu system there's /etc/xdg/autostart/evolution-alarm-notify.desktop which causes /usr/lib/evolution/2.28/evolution-alarm-notify to be run automatically some 30 seconds after logging in. Both come from the `evolution' package. $ cat /etc/xdg/autostart/evolution-alarm-notify.desktop [Desktop Entry] Name=Evolution Alarm Notifier Comment=Ensures that alarms set in Evolution go off at the appropriate time Icon=stock_alarm Exec=/usr/lib/evolution/2.28/evolution-alarm-notify Terminal=false Type=Application OnlyShowIn=GNOME; Categories= X-GNOME-Autostart-Delay=30 X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=evolution-2.28 $ So I'm a bit surprised you have that entry there to get out of date and need manual updating. Re: [Dorset] Evolution Alarm
Hi Peter, peter.harr...@virgin.net wrote: > It worked today for an appointment tomorrow so I wonder if it might be > a bug that was fixed in the latest update. I suspect not. There seems to be lots of people over time having the same issue as you are. Someone comes up with a workaround that works for them, not others, and then stops working for them even though they're sure it did. Sounds a bit like a race condition causing the intermittency. Do you have Evolution start automatically every time you log in? Perhaps try turning that off and start it manually after everything is all settled down, say a minute. Does it ever go wrong then? Perhaps it is something in 10.04. I am using Evolution 2.28.3 Note that I have never tried it before so I can't compare with previous behaviour on this computer. [Dorset] Evolution Alarm
Hi all, My Evolution alarm notification has stopped working if the computer is not switched on at the time set for the alarm to go off. It used to go off when I booted up. I think the problem started at about the time I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04. Can anyone help please?
