[Dorset] SNAFU again

2010-09-18 Thread Simon O'Riordan
I just ran update, and now Skype on the 2133 is bust again.
Thanks UBUNTU, and well done.

A minor setback; ALSA must be included in the Linux image binary
collection, or some other explanation, but in fact the ALSA version was
reverted to 21.
I'm repeating the script, half of the upgrade is still in place so it
should get back to 23 shortly.
That will probably be that.
Might pay to scan the update list carefully to prevent reversion of
Alsa, but I think it was the image that did it.

Tried apt-pinning?

2010-09-18 Thread Ralph Corderoy

Hi Simon,

A minor setback; ALSA must be included in the Linux image binary
collection, or some other explanation, but in fact the ALSA version
 was reverted to 21.

If the script just rides roughshod over the package repository system
then this kind of thing will happen. What would be better is if it
built a package with a later version number and installed that.

You may find, after the script has been run again, that debsums(1) will
show some installed ALSA packages are now corrupt.

Cheers,
Ralph.
