Re: [Dovecot] How do I use plus-addressing in Dovecot 1.1.x?
Can you post your conf files ? I could try it on one of my setups. I have no idea how to make + addressing tho . Jon Fullmer wrote: I'm using Postfix, Amavisd-new/SpamAssassin, and Dovecot. They all run on the same server (running Linux). The mailboxes are stored on the same server in maildir format. The logical path for incoming messages (as I understand it) is: 1) received by Postfix; handed off to Amavisd-new 2) Amavisd-new checks to see whether or not it's spam/undesirable; hands off to Dovecot deliver 3) Dovecot deliver delivers the message to the local mailbox Under each of my user's mailbox is a submailbox called spam. Just so I don't confuse terminologies (I'm no IMAP/maildir expert), for example, we have [EMAIL PROTECTED] My configured mail_location is maildir:/srv/mail/%d/%n, so this person's mailbox is located here: /srv/mail/domain.com/someone/ Within this directory is another mailbox: /srv/mail/domain.com/someone/.spam/ The plan is to have Dovecot deliver send a message (which has been labeled by Amavisd-new as spam) directly to the .spam submailbox, instead of the INBOX (/srv/mail/domain.com/someone/). With Dovecot 1.0.x, I used plus addressing. Amavisd-new was configured so that, if a message was found to be spam, it delivered the message to Dovecot deliver, but changed the delivery address. Now, instead of [EMAIL PROTECTED], it was [EMAIL PROTECTED]. Dovecot deliver took this message and delivered it correctly to the .spam submailbox (/srv/mail/domain.com/someone/.spam/). Just to emphasize, this process does work (using Dovecot 1.0.x). With Dovecot 1.1.0, this process is broken. Now, spam messages are delivered to the INBOX instead, and, when checking the dovecot-deliver.log, I'm seeing save failed to spam: Unknown namespace. As best as I can tell, the answer seems to lie in namespaces as a feature added in Dovecot 1.1.0. The problem is that I don't understand how I could use them to resolve this situation. I've read the documentation. I've looked at as many example configurations as I could find. Please help. I want to get this working again. I'm sure it's something very straight-forward, but I don't understand. How must I change my Dovecot 1.1.x configuration so that my plus addressing set up (detailed above) will work again? Or is there a better way? Thanks so much for your help, and thanks for a great product! - Jon
[Dovecot] Sieve problem with 1.1.2
Hello, I am new here, so excuse me if i am asking something already asked. I am using dovecot 1.1.2 along with postfix 2.6 and a pgsql backend. So far everything is great, until i wanted to try out the sieve implementation. I am using dovecot for deliver and i have set global_script_path = /home/vmail/globalsieverc The script IS working until a given user defines his own sieve script ( for example ) : require [fileinto]; # Move mail from my gmail account to gmail folder if header :contains From [[EMAIL PROTECTED]] { fileinto gmail; } This ( or any other script for all i know ) breaks up the global one, and it stops working. The global script looks like this : require [fileinto]; # Move spam to spam folder if header :contains X-Spam-Flag [YES] { fileinto spam; stop; } Am i missing something, or this is the desired behaviour ?
Re: [Dovecot] Sieve problem with 1.1.2
Any suggestions on how to disable this ? I'd like to be able to filter all spam by default with sieve, and still allow users to have their own rules. [Dovecot] max connects per host?
Hi everyone! I want to manage mail server resource part (like it can CGP) and with it I have one question. Is any way to limit overall max simultaneous connections to imap/pop3 server from one(each) host, except use iptables/ipfw and so on? Like a patch to dovecot or, maybe, it can be released in future versions? I know about mail_max_userip_connections in dovecot 1.1 but it can't limit hosts this way. Thank you.

[Dovecot] Getting more spam
Hi I am taking part in writing an anti spam filter for my uni project. However at the moment I am not getting much spam to my mail server - running dovecot and postfix :) Do you have any suggestions for getting more? Thanks Tom
Re: [Dovecot] Getting more spam
Hi Thanks for the offer. What is a a spam sink, can you redirect it via MX records? I am interested, as you say, in genuine spam, but not too bothered what the source is. I do not use this account for anything else, so there are no non-spam messages in it. Thanks Tom Neale Pickett wrote: On Wednesday 21 March 2007 1:47 pm, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: However at the moment I am not getting much spam to my mail server - running dovecot and postfix :) You need to be really careful about this. It turns out that getting a *clean* spam feed is quite challenging. You want to make sure it's: * Verbatim spam (not forwarded, classified, or otherwise messed with) * 100% spam, in other words you want to be absolutely certain that a legitimate email didn't slip in, for instance, you want to make sure people aren't able to taint it by redirecting real email from their mother-in-law * An accurate representation of the sort of spam you're interested in. For instance, do you care about things that postfix could drop by checking the hostname given with HELO? Are you interested in spam resulting from usenet posts, web spiders, or something else? I have a spam sink--currently turned off--that I can re-enable for you if you aren't too picky about the last point. Better, I think, would be for you to seed your own spam sink, but that takes time and maybe you can't wait. Neale
Re: [Dovecot] Getting more spam
Also, I am running a custom smtp proxy in front of postfix to log all SMTP transactions, and postfix is configured to be very lenient in terms of checking.
