"Mailbox isn't a valid MBOX file" Error
Running currently two local mailclients: Outlook 2021 and Thunderbird 102.4.2 When using TB and remove a message on my main account, I get this error: [CANNOT] Mailbox isn't a valid mailbox On any other TB configured email accounts I can remove messages without any problems. First I thought that Outlook might block removal on messages, but the issue appears as well if I close that mail client. Can you tell what is causing this problem? Best regards, Jos Chrispijn
Re: dovecot: 2.3.16 -> 2.3.17_1
Alexander Dalloz: You are just using a flase configration option which makes 2.3.17 fail in your case. You might be right, but I also think that if Dovecot needs a fix, it would be also a good thing to provide an updated online version including the fix instead of an unfixed version @ dovecot.org that origins date of Thu Oct 28 12:12:55 EEST 2021 The simple fix has been communicated over this list. Unfortunately his fix is not available @ dovecot.org which gives the impression that the current non-SSL functionallity can only be fixed through a mailing list populated by incrowd. ./elise
Re: dovecot: 2.3.16 -> 2.3.17_1
Elise: Can you tell how to fix? Thanks! In order to keep SSL alive I downgraded to the pre-last version of Dovcecot and ran the command pkg lock dovecot until an update will be released. ./elise
Re: 2.3.17 broken on CentOS8 / bug
Aki Tuomi: This issue is now fixed for Dovecot on master with https://github.com/dovecot/core/compare/ca2237e%5E..6fff8d5.patch Can someone hint us how we should process this fix (sorry, blond)? /elise
Re: dovecot: 2.3.16 -> 2.3.17_1
Aki Tuomi: This is caused by the ssl_ca setting. We are working on a fix. You can try commenting the setting out. Can you let us know once a fix is available? I now deactivated package update after I reinstalled the last-1 version of Dovecot. /elise
dovecot: 2.3.16 -> 2.3.17_1
Hi team, perhaps I do overlook something here, but after the update from 2.3.16 -> 2.3.17_1on startup Dovecot is generating error message: > doveconf: Fatal: execvp(/usr/local/sbin/dovecot) failed: Argument list too long > /usr/local/etc/rc.d/dovecot: WARNING: failed to start dovecot As a temporary solution I currently hashed out SSL in dovecot.conf and receive e-mail again. Can you tell how to fix? Thanks! /elise

Re: .IMAP locations
Op 3-4-21 om 9:39 schreef Aki Tuomi: The .imap folder will not contain duplicate of your mails. It contains indexes. These are not going to end up being same size as your mailbox. Sorry, what I meant to say is that in every subfolder of the user/home folder Dovecot is creating a .imap folder, replicating the folder content the .imap is in. In my case, having this www folder with my website in my home/user folder (where Dovecot is starting indexing), the folder structure is replicated serveral times with the .imap index folders that Dovecot creates. I have solved the issue by moving the www folder out of the home/user folder so that it is not indexed by Dovecot anymore. Thanks for your help! Elise
.IMAP locations
I have this account, /usr/home/me To be able to admin websites, I created a folder /usr/home/me/www , containing my siteroot /usr/home/me/www/mysite.com My dovecot.config: mail_location = mbox:/home/%u:INBOX=/var/mail/%u the actual mailfolder is /usr/home/me/mail , which I defined in my mailclient as 'mail/' The issue now is that Dovecot is indexing my whole /usr/home/me/ folder, including the www folder, in which it also idexes every folder that is in /usr/home/me/www/mysite.com . It puts in these folders an .imap folder that is containing the exact content of the folder it is put in. So my site takes double space by this Dovecot indexing. To solve this issue, I defined my mail_location line as mail_location = mbox:/home/%u/mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u and removed the 'mail/' directive from my mail client. For some reason this does not prevent Dovecot to index the subfolders of /usr/home/me/www/ - Do I have to remove all Dovecot related indexing files by hand to solve this and restart Dovecot service afterwards? - Can you tell me how I can define the Dovecot index files location so that there will be no .imap folder created anymore in my /usr/home/me/www/ subfolder(s)? Thanks for you help! Elise #CSSis {beautiful};

.imap folders
My user account is located at /usr/home/elise and has a subfolder ./mail In that folder I have some subfolders/subdirectories. What happens now is that dovecot creates all kind of .imap folders in these subfolders. They are all exact mirrors of the base folder(s) the .imap is part of. Can you tell me how I can prevent that dovecot creates these .imap folders other than in my home user folder /usr/home/elise and the /usr/home/elise/mail folder? /Elise

Re: Outlook with Dovecot
Op 13-12-20 om 19:14 schreef Michael Schumacher: I am not sure I understand your problem. Who exactly is converting the username? Is it Outlook or dovecot or your BSD usermanager? I am aware of a problem where Outlook tries to guess the username from the provided e-mail address and its AS aka artificial stupidity guesses wrong. Adding an account in Outlook (2019 in my case) one must provide an email adddress. Example: el...@cloudzeeland.nl So that would be the username (and not simply elise). Dovecot does not understand that and respose with a 'non existing user' kinda of message. Do agree that MS should be less arragand on this; perhaps a member of MS reads this topic and is willing to help me/us out with this. Imho not only should a webbrowser be cross compatible; a mailclient also should respect global IMAP rules' configuration. /E.
