outlook 2019 not working

2022-01-09 Thread postmaster
Just tried connecting a Windows 10 client with Outlook 2019 but it
fail's on both POP3 or IMAP - i knew it was working when i tested it
after the server setup about a year ago because i documented everything
with screenshots.

All other devices we use (Thunderbird, iPhone/iPad, Android devices,
RoundCube) are working without any issue, just Outlook won't connect
anymore.

We don't have much Windows/Outlook experience - any help/hints appreciated.

This what i have in the logs, but doesn't see anything that helps:

Hi!

I'm sorry I didn't word it more clearly. The problem is not with creating
folders, just with putting messages into them. If I send a message to
"user+detail", the "detail" folder is created just fine, and the message is put
there. Problems are axactly with one use case: when I send a message to
"alias+detail". In that case it is just put into INBOX regardless of whatever I
try to define in sieves with ":detail" rule.

[Dovecot] 2.1.5 problem with mail_location

2012-04-25 Thread postmaster

I've been advised to set :
mail_location = maildir:~/
as the home directory is found through a sql request.

this has been working perfectly up to and including 2.1.4

from 2.1.5 however this setting gives cause to a problem :
instead of looking in the mail home eg /var/mail/domain/user\@domain/
dovecot is looking for mail in /var/mail/domain/user\@domain/~

the '~' directory is created upon the first request for mail and all
future mail transactions in dovecot is done relative to this folder.

is this behavior a bug or a feature ???

So Dovecot calls localtime() and the process hangs. Something's badly
broken in your system related to timezone handling, nothing Dovecot can
do about it..

OK - Thanks for your help :-)

I'll take it up on the macports mailing lists then !

On a note regarding my hardware :
the computer has three ethernet-interfaces:
but that doesn't really seem to be an issue as telnet from localhost
also hangs indefinetely
I'm seeing the issue no matter which interface I connect to, whether the
two external WAN or the internal LAN IP-number .

[Dovecot] dovecot freezes when trying to get mail from maildir with mail

2012-02-19 Thread postmaster
I'm completely stumped by this problem and I've tried everything at
present - including installing dovecot from scratch.

The problem is that when trying to get email from the server -AND-
there's email in the account, the pop3 or imap process freezes and no
email is fetched. The crazy thing is, that it has been working
perfectly, but suddenly I'm getting these freezes both when using telnet
from localhost, roundcubemail on the same server and Seamonkey from
another computer.

Logging seems to work perfectly.
For an account without email, dovecot finds the maildir++ and acts
correctly.
For an account -with- email, dovecot seems to find the maildir++, but
also seems to try Namespace of which I haven't defined any.

I've tried to get rawlog to work also, but that didn't work - the telnet
process froze on login even though I'm quite sure I did the right thing
and ps showed an active rawlog process

Postfix is delivering the email straight into the mailboxes.

[Dovecot] dovecot's documentation dearth

2011-08-15 Thread Postmaster
Hello. The first thing for me to say is thanks! I've been using
dovecot since test 61 and it has basically performed flawlessly for me
from day number 1. Dovecot makes me look like a genius sysadmin,
especially compared to my colleagues struggling with exchange. So
thanks, gracias, obrigado!!

I'm working on a configuration for 2.0 and I'm finding the documentation
somewhat difficult. I think it would be very helpful to me to have
encountered a single page that detailed all available configuration
sections. I don't know how to find out what the sections are, when to
use them or what specifically they control. So far I've encountered...

  passdb
  plugin
  service
  protocol
  userdb
local_name (and I think there is another one of these for ips)

The service section itself would benefit from a single page detailing
all of the possible types of service sections available.

The next problem I've had is discovering that several parts of dovecot
have no documentation at all even though they are standalone executables
run by root. config, log, and ssl_params all run as root but there is
also anvil and they look to me like they could support listening on a
port if inet_interfaces is defined.

You can say, "Relax fella, trust me. These programs are all part of
dovecot and are run only if they're needed." Then I'll say, "Yes but
I'm the administrator. I need to know how the parts fit together to
know if the system's broken." Then you say, "Well that makes sense, but
the things you're talking about aren't really configured. They are
mostly internal to dovecot, they just happen to be broken out into
external programs. You may as well be asking for documentation on a
specific function in a library. If that's what you want, you can read
through the source code."

Well I guess that would be one solution. The bottom line is that it
gives me an uncomfortableness to not be able to control or explain the
operation of the software I'm supposedly administering. Take the
program named log (which should be named dovecot-log or something less
generic), it is launched even though I've specified syslog in the
configuration. Logging is not interrupted when the process is killed.
So, why is it running? What is it doing? Why does it need root? How
do I control it? I think these are all good questions for an
administrator to ask.

That's my feedback for what it's worth, but mostly, thanks again for
dovecot!

[Dovecot] Help Dovecot / vpopmail auth process...

2010-10-30 Thread postmaster
Please forgive my previous posts, sending mail manually since i cant get the
auth to work. Thought i had the body cut and pasted correctly.

I am pulling my hair out, i think I know what is wrong - i just cant find out
how to fix it.

Using Debian - lenny

it appears that the auth process - is not looking for / seeing the proper file
or database for the lookup.

i would like it to point to the cdb file stored ~/domains/%d/ <
assuming the %d = domains - and the file would then be vpasswd.cdb..

Let me know if i need to post anything else to help.
