the invalid entry from subscriptions file (probably broken client added it in 
some earlier Dovecot version that didn't disallow it).

Come on ... software having problems with non-ASCII-stuff in 2012 is
just broken by design. Hence there should be no reason to use 'ue'
instead of ü anywhere.

Haha. Tell that to my users. By default, everybody gets a "Drafts"
folder anyway.

What does this look in filesystem? Is it not in mUTF-7? If the problem is in 
filesystem, rename it to mUTF7 (you can use doveadm mailbox mutf7)
