Darn, I was afraid of that. It's using a special URL. If you click
on the 'Desktop' link at www.google.com what is the resulting URL?
Should be something like:
  http://127.0.0.1:4664/&s=1138275984

If you edit ggd.xml and change the "action" to the URL it gives you
there, it should work fine for you. Let me know if that works.

It had a bug in it. I've corrected it, committed it to CVS and
attached the latest copy.

Yes. I've attached a search that hits Google Desktop on your local
PC (ggd.xml).

I only just installed it, though, so I don't know for sure that the
URL's that it generates are truly consistent across every PC. For
example, your PC may have a different target than mine. Apparently
Desktop Search uses a key of some sort in the query URL. IOW, it may
not work for you without modification. Let me know if it doesn't
work and I'll tell you how to fix it.

To set it as your default search open up localprefs.js and add this
line:

defaultsearch="ggd";

2004-10-29 Thread Paul

Here's a review of 6 desktop searchers (including Google Desktop), 5 of which, like
Google Desktop, are free. Google does *not* sound like it's currently the best free
one, though it's likely to eventually become the best.

[DQSD-Users] Incorporate Google desktop search into DQSD

I've been using Google desktop search a lot and it's
got some very nice
points.
Is there any way to incorporate it's local computer
search features into
DQSD?
