[DQSD-Users] DQSD web site

2005-05-26 Thread Gregory Krohne
How hard would it be to make a DQSD search web site? Could the deskbar code
be ported easily to a web page, so non-Windows users could enjoy DQSD?

Regards,
Gregory Krohne

This is one of my pet projects, which is currently less than half
done.

It's not simple, because a lot of the searches do more than simply
GET or POST forms - they create objects like MSXML and RegEx that
strict browsers will not allow. There's also the security risk -
some of the searches let you run vbscript or javascript and doing so
poses the question to whether to push that type of thing to the
client, or to the server, and if the server, how do you sanitize an
environment where it is intended to provide the ability to execute
random input? I haven't had much time to devote to the project over
the last few months, but intend to finish it eventually. :)
