[drakelist] AC4 power supply Filter kit

2004-03-29 Thread Mark Gilger
Guys,
Can anyone help out Mike?
Some of the guys on the Drake Technical net have been bugging MIke to
produce a board that would be sized correctly for the AC4. Well it looks
like he's done that, but now needs a volunteer to send him an AC4 so he can
make sure it works. If anyone has one out there, that needs to recapped,
and can benefit by replacing the whole guts, please contact Mike and see
what you can work out. This would benefit the whole collector group once he
has a proven product ready for distribution.

I have included the link to his web site showing what he has done for the
Heath HP-23's. Most of the Heath collectors know Mike and his products.

You can contact his at this email address: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks,

Re: [drakelist] 4 Line Crystals

2004-03-29 Thread w1id

I think I paid around $12.00 each some three years ago at JAN Crystals.
I'm sure it costs more by now. The neat thing is they have the crystal
specs on hand and you only have to say it's for a Drake (fill in the model
number). Unfortunately you have to wait 3 - 4 weeks for delivery. On the
other hand, crystals drift off frequency with age. For example, I still
have the original 39.1mHz crystal to cover 28 28.5mHz I bought some 33
years ago directly from Drake. It's about 10kHz off now. The ones I
ordered from JAN are generally +/- 2Khz. So given the choice of old versus
new, regardless of cost, I'd go with new stock. International Crystals
also sells crystals for Drake equipment.

[drakelist] Question about SW-4A

2004-03-29 Thread CHERRY

Hello to the group,

Could you please told me the how many volt you have on the C76 ( little
electrolytic condenser 0.1 MF/ 200VDC on the power board) of the SW-4A.
I measure -24 volts and I think it is too much.

Your comments will be greatly appreciated.

Re: [drakelist] Question about SW-4A

2004-03-29 Thread Garey Barrell
Jean-Marie -

I don't have an SW-4A, but according to the manual that does
seem high, and would cut off the RF and other AGC controlled
stages.

1. C76 is most likely either a paper or ceramic capacitor
rather than electrolytic.

2. The grids of V4 and V5 show -1.2V, and they are
essentially connected directly to the top of C76.

2. The voltage at the "other end" of R55, the 2.2M resistor
should be about -1 to -2 volts.

3. If R57 was open or much increased in value, there could
be as much as -60V on the end of R55. This would be my
first check!

A shorted Q4 is also a possibility. What are the voltage
measurements on Q4?

Let us know what you find.

[drakelist] Drake CC-1 (complete)

2004-03-29 Thread Allen \(Marty\) Martin

CC-1 Console with the SC-2, SC-6, CPS-1, SCC-1. This package consists of the
2 meter receive converter, The 6 meter receive converter, The Crystal
Calibrator, The Power Supply, and the console all of the units mount inside
of. The output from the converters is on 20 meters. Works great! The
sensitivity seems comparable to my 706 Mark2G. The console has one end on
top of the chassis with corrosion (not seen when in use). Has indicator
light on the front panel and the cabinet needs repainted. Matches the Drake
4-Line.
Pics available.
325.00 shipped in the U.S

I have talked to Mike this week, and he and I have agreed that I will
send him my AC-4 for his experiment, and return it to me wit the new
board installed (plus cost of parts, of course).
