[drakelist] R-4C Alignment Procedure Question
Greetings, Can someone tell me which are the "green" colored rotor contacts on sections S1D and S1E of the band switch on an R-4C? The coloring is gone on mine, probably due to switch cleaning with alcohol. I would like to touch up the alignment per section 5-12 of the manual. Thanks! Re: [drakelist] 4 Line Crystal Eliminator (latest QST FS-4 replacement)
Could be you are right Evan. I'm happy with an equivalent myself. I did a little work on duplicating an FS-4 a few years ago, but my results weren't as good as Steve's. His may even be better than the FS-4 performance wise. 73, Rob On May 11, 2004, at 2:33 PM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Bob, The people paying $500 for an FS-4 don't want clones. I inquired about cloning the 1544 and 1548 to link the R7 with TR-7. I think I got two inquiries to my request. So people pay up to $250 for a cable, aluminum box, and $15 worth of parts. Hard to figure except that people do in fact want an original, not equivalent capability. 73s, Evan -- Rob Frohne, Ph.D., P.E. E.F. Re: [drakelist] 4 Line Crystal Eliminator (latest QST FS-4 replacement)
Hi Dan, I've seen various clubs do this. They get a bunch of members to agree that they want to build the item, and then they order all the parts in one order, thereby saving some because they can get bulk prices. They also have the support to get things going because there are a number of people building all at once to consult with. I don't know if Steve will give us the artwork file for the PCB, but if he would, or if he won't and we redo it, we may be able get a better deal than FAR Circuits is giving for PC boards, and we may be able to get better quality too. If we program our own PICs then we may be able to do it for less than FAR Circuits. There are costs though. Someone has to kit up all the parts, send them out, keep track of who has paid, etc. Rob On May 11, 2004, at 9:50 AM, DAN COTSIRILOS wrote: what do you mean group kit build? - Original Message - From: "Rob Frohne" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Drake" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, May 11, 2004 11:38 AM Subject: [drakelist] 4 Line Crystal Eliminator (latest QST FS-4 replacement) Hi All, If you haven't seen the latest QST, have a look! Steve Hageman has a homebrew replacement for the FS-4. It looks good indeed. I would like to suggest that this group might want to do a group kit build on this project. It looks to me like the price could be around $100 which is a whole lot better than the $500 going price for an FS-4 on ebay. What do you all think? 73, Rob, KL7NA/W7 -- Rob Frohne, Ph.D., P.E. E.F.
