Re: [drakelist] TR-4 and keying amplifier
"Don and Diana Cunningham" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterence to the drakelist gang -- Chuck, I wouldn't personally fool with it for a 500w amp. Not enough difference to warrant the trouble, and most 500w amps wouldn't like the drive power available from the TR4!! Most of those I've seen like 100w or less. If you had a L4B, then different story, hi. 73, Don, WB5HAK -- On Behalf of "Don and Diana Cunningham" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Submissions:drakelist@www.zerobeat.net Unsubscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: http://www.zerobeat.net Brought to you courtesy of TLCHost.net http://www.tlchost.net/ --

[drakelist] Drake TR-5 question...
Darren Taylor <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterence to the drakelist gang -- I just aqacquired pristine Drake TR-5 loaded with the fan and NB momodule It included the PS-75 power supply as well. OK...here is the question. When I turn the VFO knob CLOCKWISE the digital display goes DOWN in frequency and when I turn the VFO COUNTER-CLOCKWISE the digital frequency goes UP. This is 100% opposite of any radio I have ever owned although I did hear the Drake 2B was reverse dial like mine. Is this correct in the Drake TR-5 or is mine just defective? It is serial #1479 for the serial number database. RE: [drakelist] TR-4 and keying amplifier
"Chuck Wyatt" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterence to the drakelist gang -- That's about what I thought. There's a guy on eBay selling a cable for under $20, but I thought it probably wasn't worth the bother, and I could make it myself. What a great little rig the TR-4 is. Nice output. Thanks, Al and Evan! 73, Chuck -Original Message- From: Al Parker [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, April 25, 2005 8:34 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; drakelist@zerobeat.net Subject: Re: [drakelist] TR-4 and keying amplifier Hi Chuck, No, it's not hard, if you have the proper connectors for each end. The AC-4 originally had a 2-pin jack, and the mating plug is no longer available. Drake made a simple adapter to an RCA jack that consisted of a small aluminum plate to fill the hole, and an RCA jack. Easy to make. But, no, your 500 watt output amp will make about 4db difference, just barely discernible. You should be getting 160-180w +- from the TR-4. 73, Al, W8UT New Bern, NC BoatAnchors appreciated here http://www.thecompendium.net/radio/ http://www.hammarlund.info - Original Message - From: "Chuck Wyatt" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Monday, April 25, 2005 8:10 PM Subject: [drakelist] TR-4 and keying amplifier > > "Chuck Wyatt" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterence to the drakelist gang > -- > Hi all, > > Is it difficult to home brew a cable to go between the AC-4 and a > linear amplifier for the purposes of T/R keying? > > I guess a secondary question is whether a small desktop amp (500 watts > out) for the TR-4 is even worth the bother! > > 73, > > -Chuck > KB5GC > > > -- > On Behalf of "Chuck Wyatt" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Submissions:drakelist@www.zerobeat.net > Unsubscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body > Hopelessly Lost:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message > Zerobeat Web Page: http://www.zerobeat.net > Brought to you courtesy of TLCHost.net http://www.tlchost.net/ > -- > -- On Behalf of "Chuck Wyatt" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Submissions:drakelist@www.zerobeat.net Unsubscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: http://www.zerobeat.net Brought to you courtesy of TLCHost.net http://www.tlchost.net/ --

[drakelist] TR-4 and keying amplifier
"Chuck Wyatt" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterence to the drakelist gang -- Hi all, Is it difficult to home brew a cable to go between the AC-4 and a linear amplifier for the purposes of T/R keying? I guess a secondary question is whether a small desktop amp (500 watts out) for the TR-4 is even worth the bother! 73, -Chuck KB5GC -- On Behalf of "Chuck Wyatt" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Submissions:drakelist@www.zerobeat.net Unsubscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: http://www.zerobeat.net Brought to you courtesy of TLCHost.net http://www.tlchost.net/ --
[drakelist] T4XC/R4C out of sync
I recently obtained a mint condition T4XC which works fine. However the peak on the drive control for tuning the xmtr is about ¾” from the peak when receiving using the transmitter PTO. The result is a loss of 2-3 S units on receive if adjusted for max transmit. Of course if I use separate PTO’s or transceive with the rx PTO all works great. Is there a trimmer or coil I should tweak to bring the two peaks closer together?? I’ve got the Drake manual and Garry’s CD. Thanks in advance. K4GM- George
