120-240V switch

Hi John, I thought ALL the later model AC-4's
were
duel voltage units only requiring an internal wiring
change. Mine is SN 55719.

The latest serial number I have is 58298 and it is a single voltage
supply. There are no cououts that don't have a factory connector mounted
in them. It doesn't make sense to me that Drake would put a dual primary
transformer in the power supply and hot have a way to switch it from the
factory. Are you sure that the cutout is for that swith? Is it screened
on the supply? It might be possible that someone removed the infamous 2 pin
relay connector which would leave a cutout the same size as the switch.

Check your schematic against the primary of the trasformer. If there are 2 sets
of primary leads, then you have a dual voltage tranny, if there is only one
set, it is a 120V power supply.

John

[drakelist] R7 audio

2006-05-26 Thread DW Harms

Drakelist de PA2DW,

I am using a R7 in combination with my TR7 for some
time now, with utmost satisfaction. What I do notice though, is the difference
in the way the R7 sounds in comparison with the TR7 receiver.

Especially with the AGC in position fast,
the audio sounds very much like it is saturated in some way and there is a kind
of crackling noise coming along with the received signal. I always thought it
was my R7 that did that and it was something on the list to fix. But today I
visited Evert PA2KW and his R7 did sound very much the same like mine! We went
over it and tried tweaking the AGC but with no success

Now I wonder if others experience the same and if
there is a fix for it. It surely must have something to do with the AGC circuit.

Evert and I decided to go and search for the service
manual of the R7 which we dont have, so any source for that will also be
highly appreciated!

Hello all,

I seek information, I bought new blue lenses for my Drakes, the dial lense
was no problem however the s meter lense looks like to change it one has to
remove the whole front plate. is there an easy way ?
also I have a c-4 however the red and black push buttons dont allow the
thing to stay on, once you take your finger off they go off I am assuming
they are bad ( the switches ) am I overlooking something?

Thanks, Joey
