Drakelist?de?PA2DW,

?

See the answer of John Kriner below. That was my only hope, so now I have to
ask if there is anyone out there with a surplus TR7 that is being parted out...

??? Dick,

??? Those holders had a tendency to crumble after years of using with the PBT,
RIT, etc. lamps on.? Drake made a replacement for this out of much stouter
material.? But neither are available.? My best suggestion would be to find a
TR-7 being parted out.

[drakelist] Soldering Iron

2007-10-31 Thread Bill Ellis
Hi all,

My trusty WEN 75, you know the one that looks like a pistol, has finally died
and trying to get tips has been a chore. I looking at one of these variable
temperatir\ue/wattage soldering stations. Any recommendations out there?

Thanks for any advise,

Greetings, Bill -

I finally invested in one myself - they tend to be on the
expensive side, and I went with a Radio Shack model, a digital soldering
station, with adjustable temp control. I've been very happy with it - it
cost about $80 a year ago, and was just about the cheapest I could find -
there may be cheaper ones now.

I've seen these on Upay, I mean eBay, and elsewhere and the prices aren't too
bad.? Get one that has the largest mass tip, regardless of whatever wattage you
select.? Not only is temperature important, but so also is the mass or heat
capacity.

I've used both Weller and Hako.

Or, just fabricate one out of whatever material suits you. It's just a light
box
