Hi Gene,

Where are you located...?

My son is going to school in Portland, Maine, & we visit him every once in a
while...and I am thinking of giving myself(!) a nice set of Drake Twins for
Christmas...

It'd sure be nice to drive back home to Canada with those rascals in my back
seat...

Eddy,

Good point. I am in Marlborough, MA, about 30 miles due
west of Boston. I am sure that we could arrange a meeting
point somewhere if you like.

[drakelist] Keying Circuit

Here is a cathode keying circuit I use for
boatanchors
  and solid state rigs.

The IRF-730 is inexpensive on eBay, and good for
400V.

not to toot my own horn...

but this is exactly what you need!

http://www.theheathkitshop.com/universalkeyingi.html

It's optically coupled and has a high voltage mosfet output.

you can wire it as a cathode keyed or grid blocked keyed output

it's on a pcb about the size of a large postage stamp.

Nice Mike,

That sure is a tiny little gadget. The Hallicrafters
HT-40 that I'm playing with (40W. out, xtal control,
AM and CW) has from 65 to 93 volts at the key
terminals
depending upon which mode is selected. It can provide
quite a jolt, or worse :-)

[drakelist] r-4b heat issue?

2007-11-09 Thread Carey Lockhart
i have a good working r-4b. i was in it today and have noticed that
the transformer gets to hot to touch. or at least very uncomfortable
to the touch. my question. is this normal?

[drakelist] t4-xb lsb filter issue?

2007-11-09 Thread Carey Lockhart
ok the lsb works until the t4xb starts getting warm. then it quits. i
can put a small muffin fan on the filters and in a few minuets it
starts working again. or instead of the fan i can tweak the entire
switch and filter assembly and it will hit a happy spot and start
working again. now, would that be a switch issue? has anyone had this
same problem? i haven't found any visibly bad solder joints. ahhh i
love this stuff :-)
