[Drakelist] It's NOT a vote!

2010-07-13 Thread Thom LaCosta

Greetings from the benevolent list dictator.

Please read my posts VERY CAREFULLY. At not time time did I:

A. Call for a vote on the Reply To: function

B. Ask for suggestions

As far as the "every other list I subscribe to" logic.using
Eudora I noticed

Elecraft - Reply To: Goes to individual
QRP-L - Reply to: Goes to individual
Yahoo Group - Reply To: Goes to group only
QRP-Org - Reply To: Goes to individual

One Yahoo group I subscribe to is FreeCycleand if you Reply To a
message, you get an extremely curt moderation message about

NOT replying to the group.

So, it seems to me that no matter how I configure the list it will:

A. Not be correct for some folks
B. Will be correct for some folks
C. Result in information lost
D. Result in dissemination of information

The encouraging part of the exercise is that quite a few folks
participated, and amazingly, figured out how to

Reply to the List.

Well, my vote is that I'll do proceed to do whatever the other voters vote
to do.

How's that for evasion of responsibility? HiHi

[Drakelist] DDS-4

2010-07-13 Thread Michael C. Marx
Hi All,

I know it's a longshot, but I came across a kit/project that was from Italy for
a DDS VFO for the Drake 4 Line (called the DDS-4). I'd love to find one of
these. If anyone knows of any for sale, I'd be VERY interested. Here is the
manual for it: http://www.nitehawk.com/rasmit/vna_dds/dds-x_v1_6.pdf I
emailed the 2 guys involved and so far have had one reply saying the project
was discontinued a few years ago.

So, if anyone knows of something similar or one of these units for sale, please
let me know.

I think it fits in fien with today's society...so, you are not to
worry...it is not your bad

(Notice, the PC world frowns upon the concept of blame).

I suspect a lot of DOA's...which was the case with my expensive y-line
version that never worked. It was refunded (minus 2x international
shipping) eventually, but it *never* worked I even photographed every
connection and sent it for verification.

Nice concept, but if my experience was any guide, premature. I could have
cared less of the digi display, but the RS232 interface (to logging
program) was useful.

Alas, I came away about 70$ poorer for the shipping back and forth, and
invested a lot of hours, for naught.

Mailing lists are not democracies. They can become so if a member buys a
computer, invests the hours to set up the list, pays for the pipe sets up
their OWN list and makes that decision..

Think of Thom as a generally-benevolent dictator.:-)
