Almost certainly not. A tube tester will not check tubes for this type of problem. Grant - No real 'adapter' needed. A piece of coax, RG-58 / 59, or low capacity microphone cable, as short as possible. The receiver end center conductor goes into any of the ACCESSORY XTAL sockets on the back panel. It needs to go into the pins that are all tied together with a piece of bus wire. Then the shield needs to go to chassis ground nearby, NOT the 'other' crystal pin. Then switch to ANY crystal switch except for NORM. The cable should be disconnected at the receiver end when crystals are being used, although there is no longer any reason to use crystals! By the way, the FS-4 will be 10 kHz off frequency for ONE of the two receivers. The "B" and other 4 Series Ham receivers need an injection frequency that is 11.1 MHz above the bottom end of the desired band, while the SPR-4 requires 11.09 MHz.
