[Drakelist] Looking for Crystals

2011-05-08 Thread Kevin Nathan
Hi All,

I am wondering if anyone on the list happens to have the HC6 type crystal
that would fit the front panel socket on the T-4XC for either 3870 AM or
3885 AM. I know this is a long shot but thought I'd try.

Take care all and very 73.

Re: [Drakelist] Transmitting converters

2011-05-08 Thread PonyTom
Hello everyone,

Boy was that fun. each time trouble rares it's ugly head, I learn new
stuff about my Drakes. No equipment failure, just operator head space.
The relay jack on the back of the AC-4 not only keys an amplifier
connected to it, but it can work the other way, if it is shorted, it will cause

just the problem I was having. What happened was the cable to my amp got
pinched. Not exactly the first place I thought of looking to find a fault.

Thanks for being concerned about my problems. Tom, WD8JPP

Do you have the INJ and EXC cables connected? AGC??

I doubt it's an oscillation, since both react in the same way. Not
likely a bad Driver tube either..

Re: [Drakelist] two drake questions

2011-05-08 Thread Curt Nixon

Yes...

All of the Drake PTO's need a good ground on the slug shft. Dont have a
C version but I think it is the same construction. It was a Drake field
mod if I recall.I think if you google Drake PTO ground braid or similar,
you will get a picture of the mod. A little desoldering wick braid from
the vertical slider to the frame does the trick. I'll send a pic direct.

Hi Mike,
The PTO could well be a poor ground of the PTO shaft. Be sure the
spring is there on the slotted lever that comes up from the shaft and
rides on a rod. The spring holds it against one side but if the rod is
cruddy there's an intermittent ground. A common fix is to solder a
small braid to the top of that lever and the other end goes to ground on
the can, or close by.
I believe the TR-3 S-mtr zero pot is the rear one of the 3 on the side
of the chassis.

Gang!

First off, I have a tr4 that works just fine, good output, receives
fine, but...

the pto is 'jumpy' as you tune through a station. It doesn't drift. So,
what's the problem?

And,
anyone know where the s-meter zero adjust is on a tr-3?

[Drakelist] WTB: 160 xtal for R4C - 12.9 Mhz xtal

2011-05-08 Thread Rich Hallman - N7TR
Looking for a 12.9 mhz xtal for the R4 / T4.

I know I can get the 12.6 mhz xtal, but looking for a 12.9 so the 1.8
mhz scale starts at 0 on the tuning dial.

Thanks...
