Re: [Drakelist] AC-4 Load Bank

2012-11-26 Thread Al Parker

hi folks,
Some yrs ago there was an article on building a test setup for Collins
p.s.'s. I think it was in one of the Collins collector magazines, I can
search it out. I came into possession of one of the units, and have
made cable adapters for the AC-3/4's, and I think the HP-23's also. It
is for voltage only, and did not include a load test, but I have been
thinking of adding that to mine.

That would be a useful test jig.

All,

Just wondering if anyone has put together an AC-4 load
or test bank ? If so, could you share the plans ?

I would like something that would allow one to connect the
AC-4. switch on the AC, and measure the various voltage
levels on test point, and perhaps even load the supply.

Thanks in advance,

Re: [Drakelist] T-4X RF Tune Vernier?

2012-11-26 Thread Luke Rainville
Thanks Gary. I had suspected that when I inspected the chassis bore for the RF
Tune shaft. I has no discoloration or friction marks to indicate that a
vernier was ever stripped out. I had thought about scrounging a vernier and
knob set from a junker T-4X, but now I think I will keep it authentic. Looks
like we have the same vintage R-4A.

Re: [Drakelist] T-4X RF Tune Vernier?

2012-11-26 Thread Gary Winblad
Nobody touched this one.
Yes Luke, there are early and later T-4X's.
Like you, I have an early one without vernier. It also has 5khz marks on the
main dial.
Later T-4X's get the vernier and only 25KHz marks. My R-4A is mid-production
and has
25KHz marks and vernier but is the earlier 13 tube version. Years ago I had an
early
R-4A with no vernier but with 5KHz marks.

Subject: [Drakelist] T-4X RF Tune Vernier?

Were there two versions of the T-4X? Mine has a straight through RF Tune
shaft, indeed the manual cover shows a T-4X with a bar knob like mine. However
I have seen T-4X's with
R-4A style red pointer vernier RF Tune controls. Is that a mod or perhaps a
later production change?
