Have you looked at ExpressPCB/ExpressSCH? Great for what you are describing and the software is free. Rick KD6ZR On 1/22/2014 8:42 PM, Doug Smith wrote: Thanks Mike. Good info. Re: [Drakelist] Drake R4B calibrator
THe only problem with the captive freeware from the places like Express is that you cannot do anything else with the result. Not even print out the board layouts--only send them in to have them made. There are several free packages...some good, others not so much, that do the same and are under the GNU free software environmnet. I have used freePCB and the free version of viewmate from Pentalogix to generate standard gerber or plotting files for small boards--multi-layer are ok as well. Learning the full automated process from schematic capture thru net list, etc to final art is an interesting passtime. Starting with a fully documented schematic with bill of material makes the capture process work very well--but it is sometimes contrary to the way us older guys develop stuff! [Drakelist] Question Concerning a Drake TR Mobile power cord
I found a brand new mobile power cord in a drawer. I have no clue when I got it but I had a basic question regarding it. It has three leads, red, black and white. I know red is positive and black is negative but what is white used for. I looked up the the cord in the drake manual but I can't see where the white lead comes into the schematic. [Drakelist] New to the list
Hello folks! VE2MRN Marco here and I just found a group that shares the same passion of Drake as I do! I've been licensed since January 1991 and the TR-4 was my very first HF rig. I've been doing a lot of lurking before stepping up, and found all kinds of information lately on these beautiful rigs that I couldn't/didn't find before! I especially like the AC4 refurbishing kit that I must acquire eventually! Not wanting to make this an exhausting long intro, I am very happy to be part of this group. 73 Marco ___ Drakelist mailing list Drakelist@zerobeat.net http://mailman.zerobeat.net/mailman/listinfo/drakelist

Marco, Welcome my friend! You will have a nice time here...and lots of help if you need it. I currently have: Sherwood modified R-4C T-4XC L-4B MN-2700 tuner Use them all the time. Looking for a real nice TR-3 or 4 to add to my station. Get great reports and work tons of DX with the C line. 73, Lee KC9CDT -Original Message- From: Marco Baiocchi ve2...@hotmail.com To: Drakelist@zerobeat.net drakelist@zerobeat.net Sent: Thu, Jan 23, 2014 12:37 pm Subject: [Drakelist] New to the list Hello folks! Re: [Drakelist] New to the list
Thanks for the warm welcome! I just joined the Yahoo group also. Chuck, when the time comes for the PS kit, I will have a very capable friend who will guide/help me through it. I also seen a Youtube video showing it's not all that complicated. My PS has a very slight hum that you can only hear with the volume completely silent. 73 Marco Date: Thu, 23 Jan 2014 13:34:44 -0500 Subject: Re: [Drakelist] New to the list From: ch...@chuckg.com To: ve2...@hotmail.com Hi Marco, you came to the right place. Speaking of the AC4 upgrade kit, I've done two of them, one for an AC3. It'll do both though it's a little confusing for the AC3 (different colored wires etc). Here's my tip on that kit. Squeemish about bringing up a 750VDC supply (I was) ? I took a filament transformer and fed the 12VAC to the supply instead of the 120VAC. Then check the outputs and multiply by 10. Much less exciting, but that was my goal. 750 will arc to something that's too close, so take care. 73, Chuck, K1OM, Alachua Florida ___ Drakelist mailing list Drakelist@zerobeat.net http://mailman.zerobeat.net/mailman/listinfo/drakelist

Re: [Drakelist] Drake R4B calibrator
Eagle PCB Cad will kick some butt, but it’s a steep learning curve Free, for the trial version with no restrictions other than no pcb bigger than 3 x 4 inches I would never use software that locks into one company, ties all your work to them.
