Re: [drakelist] Confessions of an Appliance Operator
Hunter I agree with the guys on a separate switch for the fans.? I use fans on all my Drake and Collins gear.? Over the finals I suck the air out of the finals.? Also I put the small cork or felt stick-on pads under the fan.? My fans are under 8 watts...when you get above that then you will begin to get the ones that make blower noise Dale W7GMY -Original Message- From: Bob W7AVK [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sun, 23 Dec 2007 12:29 pm Subject: Re: [drakelist] Confessions of an Appliance Operator Bob W7AVK [EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang? --? Hunter - Not a guru on the subject, but if they are 120 volt already why not just make up a line cord for them and plug the cord into a computer strip with a switch along with the radios. This would control the fans and also the radios which would save the snap action power switch on the radio, which some day will go bad.? ? Its easy to later remove the fans and their line cord leaving not a trace. Also since the fans are separate you could experiment with various ways reducing their noise by slowing them down, if that is concern. Or maybe a thermostat snap action on/off switch for them.? ? Re: [drakelist] WTB D-104
Hi Peter No. Actually I was just asking Jim if he needed one.? I was not planning to sell off my mic collection quite yet.?? But as long as I have this much interest and as long as?I have gone this far I can take inventory and some pix'c?for the guys that want them.? A few years ago I started collecting the collectable's when the word was out that Astatic was planning to stop selling the D-104 series.? Most of my ham gear is going on the block.? The old ticker is not ticking very well these days.? About half of my Collins stuff is gone and some of my really neat old Brochures and things of that nature I have yet to inventory.? The big items? are still to hit the block as soon as this XMas thing is?over.? I will be busy for a couple weeks with xmas stuff.? If I don't get back?to you soon ...give me a nudge and maybe by then I'll have a list and some pic's.? Most of these things have been on display in a glass show case...along with a nice collection of bugs n keys.
