Hunter

I agree with the guys on a separate switch for the fans.? I use fans on all my
Drake and Collins gear.? Over the finals I suck the air out of the finals.?
Also I put the small cork or felt stick-on pads under the fan.? My fans are
under 8 watts...when you get above that then you will begin to get the ones
that make blower noise

Hunter - Not a guru on the subject, but if they are 120 volt already why not
just make up a line cord for them and plug the cord into a computer strip with
a switch along with the radios. This would control the fans and also the radios
which would save the snap action power switch on the radio, which some day will
go bad.?
?
Its easy to later remove the fans and their line cord leaving not a trace. Also
since the fans are separate you could experiment with various ways reducing
their noise by slowing them down, if that is concern. Or maybe a thermostat
snap action on/off switch for them.?
?
Good luck and enjoy. A good way to learn?

I would like to add a venerable D104 to my new operating desk for use with the
4C Line, and , or the TR7.? No E Bay surprises for me so thought I'd ask on the
drakelist and see if anyone has one in good shape they would part with.?

2007-12-12 Thread theducks
Hi Peter

No. Actually I was just asking Jim if he needed one.? I was not planning to
sell off my mic collection quite yet.?? But as long as I have this much
interest and as long as?I have gone this far I can take inventory and some
pix'c?for the guys that want them.? A few years ago I started collecting the
collectable's when the word was out that Astatic was planning to stop selling
the D-104 series.? Most of my ham gear is going on the block.? The old ticker
is not ticking very well these days.? About half of my Collins stuff is gone
and some of my really neat old Brochures and things of that nature I have yet
to inventory.? The big items? are still to hit the block as soon as this XMas
thing is?over.? I will be busy for a couple weeks with xmas stuff.? If I don't
get back?to you soon ...give me a nudge and maybe by then I'll have a list and
some pic's.? Most of these things have been on display in a glass show
case...along with a nice collection of bugs n keys.

Thanks Peter

I have several mic plugs labeled PJ-068.? If memory serves me correctly, they
will work in my Drake gear.? I measured one with a dial caliper and it is very
close to?the plug which I know fits.??

John Kriner sells a kit which converts the TR-4 frame relay to an enclosed
antenna relay.. I'll send along details if interested.

Dale,
The TR-4 relay is prone to problems with dirty contacts since it is not
enclosed. Verify the relay contact continuity in the transmitt position. Be
careful not to over do it if you find you need to tweak the contacts to make
reliable connection. You can usually troubleshoot the relay with an ohm
meter, power off, and press the relay closed with a pencil.
