A coupla years back I MADE one, using a 2-pole 16-position(!) rotary switch! I
mounted it right on the LH side of my R-4 receiver, attaching it to the
enclosure...
It worked well enough, but NOT on all crystals---I guess the capacitance of the
length of coax cable that I used to interconnect the switch assembly to the
back of the rig had a LOT to do with that fact, as the crystals affected worked
FB when individually inserted into the sockets directly, at the back of the
receiver...
