Bill, no before picture. It did not dawn on my to take pictures and do the
article until after I started the refurbishing process. But you would have
noticed a significant difference.

 Ron,

did you leave the components in place underneath when washing?

Fantastic!

I used to wash TV circuit boards from fire damage and it came out like
new. And it also worked fine after assembly.

But refurbishing Drakes are a labor of love.

thanks for sharing that link with us.

Ron.

The website is absolutely beautiful!! I do have a couple questions.
Unfortuanately
several of the drakes I have purchased have copper corrosion on the chasis. Is
there any hope for these? If so what would I need to do? I am very new to this
and have several TR4's and a B line I would like to restore. I guess if I
can't
get them to look pretty - I should at least get them to perform excellent!

  Thanks and Best Regards,

Re: [drakelist] Drake Refurbishing

2007-07-07 Thread Jim Pruitt
Hello Ron.

That was an excellent article.

There were a couple of things that I would like to have seen clarified. You
mentioned that you used blue film that was the same color that Drake originally
used but did not say what that color was. You also said that the film was
available from several sources but you did not mention any of the sources and
did not say where you get your film.

Also you mention that using paint to touch up scratches would usually be more
obvious than not painting the scratches but do not say what colors would match
if you decided to try and cover the scratches. I know that there has been a
lot of discussion on here about what paint and what colors match but I have not
seen anything definitive.

Thank you.

Jim Pruitt
