Re: [Drakelist] FS-4 cable
Neil - Needs to be low capacity cable, as short as possible, (12-18"). RG-62A/U, RG-59/U, Belden 8421 Mic cable, etc. 14 - 18 pF/ft. The center conductor needs to be plugged into ANY crystal socket, to the pin that is 'common' to all the others. Typically the bottom pin of each crystal socket, and the shield of the cable to chassis ground, NOT to the other crystal socket pin. It does not matter which crystal socket is used, nor does the socket used have to be selected from the front panel. The cable should also be unplugged from the receiver when using the internal crystals. 73, Garey - K4OAH Glen Allen, VA Drake 2-B, 2-C/2-NT, 4-A, 4-B, C-Line and TR-4/C Service Supplement CDs Neil M Califano wrote: What cable can be used instead of the original Drake cable for the FS-4 -> R4A? Re: [drakelist] FS 4 cable
Ruby I am not aware that the cable for the FS-4 is anything special. My FS-4 has a piece of RG-58 that is about 16" long with a RCA plug on one end and a base from a crystal on the other, and that has worked just fine. The manual states that the original cable was 20" long for convenient placement along side the receiver or transmitter. Hope that helps---73---Geno Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! [drakelist] FS 4 cable
HI all, I have a FS 4 to use with my "C" line and need a cable to hook it up. Can anyone tell me where to buy one. A friend told me it is a special cable and not just a piece of mini 8 coax with rca jacks on each end. Any help appreciated. I am new to Drakes and this is my 1st set. They came from a one owner and was not talked on much. I have all cables except the one for the FS 4. Thanks for any help. Ruby Byrd KF4NI North Carolina
