Excess can be wiped off with finger if needed prior to drying. Dried can be "chipped" off with your finger nail. I even put lines on my HR2600 knobs which only had "slotted" knobs before. Mine has lasted over 15 years on the 4 line. 73, Ron WD8SBB On Thu, 3 Apr 2008, Bill Carpenter wrote: "Bill Carpenter" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- The white lines and dots on my TR7 knobs have become almost invisible. My method of choice, both for refurbing old knobs and for painting new knobs that manufacturers don't see fit to paint (TM-D700, for one), is to use a small bottle of Testor's gloss white model paint and a very pointy toothpick. Spillover can be removed as Gary describes. The paint flows and fills well, and two applications will leave very nice, tough, very WHITE lines. Be sure to clean your knobs first (no matter which method you use) so they are free of dirt and grease. I painted the paintless knobs of my HR-2510 years ago, and the lines are still bright and visible. http://incolor.inetnebr.com/jshorney/images/2510E.jpg I can see the knob settings on my TM-D700 now when it's really dark in the car. In both cases, the grooves for the paint were embossed into the knobs, they just didn't paint them. 73 -Jim -- Ham Radio NU0C TR7/RV7, TR6/RV6, T4XC/R4C, L4B, NCL2000, SB104A, R390A, GT550A/RV550A, HyGain 3750, IBM PS/2 - all vintage, all the time! "Gary Poland" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Bill, You can use lacquer sticks available from most home centers or white enamel and a small brush. The Drake knobs are painted. Brush the paint into the recessed area, wait a spell, and careful wipe off the excess with a paper towel moistened with paint thinner. 73, Gary -- Submissions:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: www.zerobeat.net - sponsored by www.tlchost.net --

Re: [drakelist] TR7 Knobs
Yes - you can purchase a small tube of white paint (lacquer, I think) that works sort of like a pen. They can be purchased at art supply or drafting/blueprint shops. (Gee, do drafting shops exist any more?!) They work very well at putting a nice, new, fresh white cursor or dot on the Drake knobs. Mike, K2UXE, taught me this one. 73, Duane At 07:11 AM 4/3/2008, you wrote: "Bill Carpenter" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- The white lines and dots on my TR7 knobs have become almost invisible.
