Lockup on x server startup with xorg 6.9 on Radeon (R100)
Hi, Since upgrading from xorg 6.8.2 to 6.9 (Debian), I've been getting system lockups when starting the xserver. If dri is commented out in the module section of xorg.conf, then it works fine. The wierd thing is that occasionally (say 1/20 attempts) the xserver will start (with dri enabled). Once it gets that far it seems perfectly stable to use, including 3d. More details are here: http://bugs.debian.org/345729 http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg/2006-January/012206.html Hopefully that's all the important details. Would someone here be willing to guide me as to how to track down the cause? Thanks, Kevin. --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. Do you grep through log files for problems? Stop! Front buffer & rotation
I'm just about to commit to fairly large updates to the intel driver that offers rotation support fully accelerated with 3D as well. One of the problems that surfaced in this was the dri layers own mapping of the front buffer which we ended up working around by mapping a 0 length one for now. But the next logical step is to remove this mapping from the DRI layer and leave it upto the drivers to map it just as if it were a back or depth buffer. Any objections or comments on this, as it may well break binary drivers that depend on the DRI mapping it ?? Alan. --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
