You can try, but that branch was a wholesale replacement of some
existing functionality, so you may just end up at the commit where
things switched over. It may be better than that, so possibly worth trying.

It may make sense to try and narrow things down in the driver to a
certain operation or set of operations, ie the commit history may be too
coarse and you just have to attack the bug from first principles.

Marc, your patch works for me (tested with globs, not 2nd life though), no
matter if GL_FRONT_LEFT or GL_BACK_LEFT is used in r200MakeCurrent.
If you're seeing an assertion fail in _mesa_reference_framebuffer as I do, this
is a different problem in mesa git not directly related to this patch.
Otherwise, as Michel said, a backtrace might be helpful.
Oh, and I'd bet radeon would need the same fix too.

Sorry about that. I turned back to the log after browsing through gitk
last night well past after I should have been asleep :-)

Anyway, you're suspicion was correct, this problem did not exist prior
to the merge of the vbo-0.2 branch, but did start immediately after the
merge.

Does this need to be narrowed down further on the vbo-0.2 branch?

Adam

Even better, file a bug with Xorg.0.log and the output of scanpci from
libpciaccess, and we can blacklist the LVDS on your board hopefully.

I think if anything you should set the front cliprects, but I doubt that's why
it crashes. I'm afraid someone with the hardware will have to do it, e.g.
Roland. Although it might help if you could attach a backtrace from gdb.

0002210:

Interesting things to notice:
1) The amount of GART table which is used increases during the usage of the
3-D app.

2) The valid-looking table entries ends with zeros.

My current guess is that that size of the table is ALWAYS the same, and is
based on the following write: write32 27ff2000 at 14c <- MC_AGP_LOCATION.
If the entries are 0 (or 0x0c000) the card treats that entry as invalid.

3) After the 3-d app is run, some of the 0x0s are set to 0x0c000.

So, probably the addresses are or'ed with 0xc at some point.

I need one more piece of data to try to figure out how the mapping really
takes place.
I have:

1) The location of the ring buffer according to the card: (0x5800)
2) I have the virtual address of the ring buffer according to the X server.
3) Since, 0x5800 is the first address beyond the framebuffer, I am
assuming that the first page of the ring buffer will be the first entry in
the GART table.

I just need to get the physical address of the first page of ring-buffer.
(Given the X server virtual address...) Does anyone have any good ideas for
that? (kgb is my current guess, but I would like to do something easier..)

Once I have that address, I should be able to figure out how the physical
address gets mangled and pushed into the GART table.

BTW. Things DO seem to be written to the GART table in little endian order..
however, the read-out seems to reverse things. (Ie, if I write things to
the table in big endian order, when I read it back it is flipped, and
doesn't match what I wrote..)

Cheers,
--Phil

Just finished to compile the patched version and it works like a charm :)

I mean, there's no more a black screen neither on GL.O.B.S. neither on
SecondLife, so good patch!

I've applied to the ubuntu mesa 6.5.2 and patched all correctly (no warnings,
no errors) so I'll post on launchpad too!

Bye and again thanks, I think we can close the bug :)

I'm not exactly sure what's going on, but the blob was defiantly using the XY
mask when I made it's screenshot. So it must be doing something differently.
I'll wait for your reply, Rune, as I'm not really sure what's going on.

Same program as the previous comment, however this gives incorrect rendering on

should be blue/cyan (ignore my initial comment saying otherwise) but this
screenshot is a green/yellow/red.

I think I figured out why the vertical mirror isn't working. For some reason
it's fragment.position (after appropriate scaling and non-power-of-two adjust)
seems to be mostly blue/cyan... From what I've seen previously with the blob,
it should be yellow/white. I'll make some screenshots with the same angle for
comparison soon.

Merging page flipping & triple buffering for i915tex driver

2007-03-06 Thread Michel Dänzer

This functionality has been available on branches i915-pageflip (drm),
i830-pageflip (xf86-video-intel) and i915tex-pageflip (mesa) for two
weeks. In order to be able to use page flipping independently on each
pipe, the X server DRI module changes from the xserver master branch are
also needed.

I developed and tested this on i945 hardware. I've had reports of it
working on i915 as well but would be interested in hearing whether it
works on i830 and above.

The only significant outstanding issue I'm aware of is that moving a
page-flipped 3D window from being visible on pipe A only to being
visible on pipes A+B can result in a lockup if the flips on pipe B are
emitted 'too quickly'. I'm currently avoiding this by not syncing the
pages between pipes immediately in that situation, so it only seems to
happen with insane framerates such as glxgears', but this could probably
cause issues of its own with apps that render to the front buffer. It
doesn't seem to happen when moving from pipe B to pipes A+B, and the
command stream always waits for previous asynchronous flips to complete
before emitting a new flip, so I'm not sure what's up. Any ideas would
be appreciated, especially from the Intel folks.

Possibly related to this, it's been reported that there can be issues
with outputs that aren't handled quite correctly by the modesetting
driver (yet), e.g. LVDS on desktop boards. If you have issues with page
flipping and xrandr 1.2 shows outputs that shouldn't be there, try
disabling them.

If there are no objections, I'd like to merge these branches to the
respective master branches by the end of this week. Of course, if the
issues above can't be solved before the merge, I'll document them in the
intel.4 manpage.

I've been trying to track down this problem I've been having with the
r300 driver and Googleearth. Sometime, since 6.5.2 was released. It's
an odd problem as I've only see it on my PCIe x800, but not my AGP
x700. In addition, it only seems to happen when I'm using MergedFB. If
 I set MergedFB to '0', I don't have this problem. Basically, what's
happening is that my system completely locks up usually after just a few
seconds (the earth starts to zoom in). Sometimes it doesn't lockup till
I manually grab and move the earth, or actually type in an address. I
can't ping the machine and the serial console is unresponsive.

So this is what I'm seeing

commit 09e4df2c65c1bca0d04c6ffd076ea7808e61c4ae causes the lockup.. If
I'm reading the git log properly this is right after the merge from
vbo-0.2. However, commit 47d463e954efcd15d20ab2c96a455aa16ddffdcc also
causes the lockup, and this is right before the merge from vbo-0.2. I
continued with the git-bisect from there last night, but still ended up
at the same point: I kept getting versions that I couldn't compile, and
using "git reset --hard HEAD~10" ends up getting me stuck in a circle.

I'll see if I can narrow it down further this afternoon.
