Hi,

I have no clue what VAP_CNTL is, nor do I know what a vertex shader engine is,
but damn, since i read about its existance I can't wait to use mine! So
attached is the output of my mobility radeon.

Goodluck!

As long as you've got the latest Mesa sources, and everything compiled
 OK, this shouldn't be happening.

You could run 'nm' on libGL.so and see that glXBindTexImageEXT is

Actually, I thought it's not (supposed to be) exported directly but
needs to be obtained with glXGetProcAddress.

[Bug 11078] New: GLX games (example: quake3-based games) cause lock-ups on i915 card

2007-05-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11078

Summary: GLX games (example: quake3-based games) cause lock-ups
on i915 card
   Product: DRI
   Version: XOrg CVS
  Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: critical
  Priority: medium
 Component: libglx
AssignedTo: dri-devel@lists.sourceforge.net
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I have Gentoo Linux, gentoo 2.6.21-r1 and Xorg 7.2. My driver version is
xf86-video-i810 2.0.0.

If I play Nexuiz or Warsow, most notably, the games freeze very quickly after
gameplay starts or, in Nexuiz's case, as soon as you click Single Player and it
shows you your next level. Also, a game called toycars moves VERY slowly,
although it shouldn't as it is a very simple game. I don't recall any of this
stuff happening before... I don't know exactly what I upgraded, but it made
Beryl a little more unstable, rarely froze X at shut-downs and VT switches, and
made these games unplayable. What's going on?

I think this register is the same on mobility and standard chips.

I still haven't figured it out yet, although airlied gave me a few pointers
about it.

I think that unless we can find some way to make the blob change it, it might
not be possible to determine what it does...

 My glx.h has it.
 Latest glxproto.h CVS not.
As long as you've got the latest Mesa sources,

I have. Latest Mesa git 7.1, DRM git (installed).

OpenGL vendor string: DRI R300 Project
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI R300 20060815 AGP 4x x86/MMX+/3DNow!+/SSE TCL
OpenGL version string: 1.3 Mesa 7.1

 and everything compiled
 OK,

It does and works, so far.

 this shouldn't be happening.

 But...;-)

You could run 'nm' on libGL.so and see that glXBindTexImageEXT is defined.

I only added GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap to the xlib driver, as someone
requested. I didn't do anything on the DRI side.

I'll update the test program to check for the extension like it should.

 But what is this?
If I set 'setenv LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT' (tcsh) I get:

OpenGL vendor string: Tungsten Graphics, Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI R300 20060815 AGP 4x x86/MMX+/3DNow!+/SSE TCL
OpenGL version string: 1.3 Mesa 6.5.1

 Shouldn't it OpenGL 2.1 like ~mesa/docs/relnotes-7.1.html stated?

The OpenGL version depends on the driver. Core Mesa and the Xlib driver
support 2.1, but the DRI drivers don't yet.

Actually, I suppose the indirect context means we're using the FC6 Mesa instead
of CVS.
