you need to add the modeline to your config:

Option "PreferredMode" "1600x1200"
EndSection

This patch fixed glean/pixelFormats, I'd try OGLC later.

[Bug 23693] New: KMS has been broken on ATI RV250 Lf (Radeon M9)

2009-09-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon

   Product: DRI
   Version: XOrg CVS
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: DRM/Radeon
AssignedTo: dri-devel@lists.sourceforge.net
ReportedBy: johannesoberm...@gmx.de

Kernel 2.6.31-rc8 and nouveau/linux-2.6 (and installed firmware)

Up to

commit:1ae70072f0699916c1a77a9bacad958ee46f7395

- KMS works

author:Ben Hutchings 2009-08-29 13:53:51 (GMT)

commit:70967ab9c0c9017645d167d33675eab996633631

- KMS is broken
- While booting: I see "Loading drivers, configuring devices:" and then should
come the "switch" to "smooth graphic" but it comes a black screen (init 3 and
5)
- An external connected monitor losts then the signal (maybe laptop display,
too)
- I have to press the power switch until hard shutdown
- If I "tell" grub "nomodeset" the system boots...

If you need some debugging things tell me how I can provide it...

test patch

Please try this patch. It looks like the glDrawPixels(GL_LUMINANCE) case isn't
working because of a problem with luminance textures (sampling returns A=0
instead of A=1). This patch uses a GL_RGBA texture instead. The real bug is
probably elsewhere in the handling of GL_LUMINANCE textures...

Thanks.

Update: is is 3 days now that the laptop has not frozen while running X. This
looks as though the xorg update that came with the latest release of my Distro
has done the trick.
