I wonder if this is the writeback problem. That POWER crash dump is
unreadable, so it's hard to tell, but the load in question makes that
 at least likely.

If so, it should hopefully be fixed in today's git (commit
 83ba7b071f30f7c01f72518ad72d5cd203c27502 and friends).

See earlier about these being marked as regressions, but it should be

Xorg-HEAD with XGL branch with Mesa 6.5 issues

2006-03-22 Thread Shawn Starr
Mesa 6.5 implementation error: Unexpected format 0xa77f4625 in
_mesa_source_buffer_exists
Please report at bugzilla.freedesktop.org

Xgl: tnl/t_vb_arbprogram.c:1279: run_arb_vertex_program: Assertion `p' failed.

If I build the Xgl branch install it _then_ install Xorg-HEAD. Xgl works rather
well, except if I start certain applications: firefox or konsole it crashes out
and dumps this to log.

Thanks,

Shawn.

Re: radeon memory map DRM patch

2006-02-18 Thread Shawn Starr
1) The patch doesn't apply against DRM cvs (Feb 18th)

2) With current drm CVS: When starting Xgl I get

[4296305.078000] [drm:r300_emit_carefully_checked_packet0] *ERROR* Offset
failed range check (reg=4e28 sz=1)
[4296305.078000] [drm:r300_do_cp_cmdbuf] *ERROR* r300_emit_packet0 failed

Packet problem?

Shawn.

getting r300 into Mesa

Do we have a plan on doing this? It would be good to merge things since you
don't want to diverge too much?

[r300] Results on Radeon 9600 M10 Mobile laptop (T42)

2005-03-24 Thread Shawn Starr
Finally built it with Xorg-HEAD, Mesa-HEAD, some GL screensavers such as the
ones that come with KDE and had some very very good results (no flicker).

Since I've got this going finally, is there any debugging information you want
to know? I'd certainly like to help debug/test the driver as it's showing good
promice so far.
Bzflag doesn't run (segfaults).

[Dri-devel] All those parties... Mach64 non AGP DRI support?

2002-01-30 Thread Shawn Starr

I dont know if this is coming, or if there's any interest. But X just
*dies* using the CPU to redraw 2D and 3D just isn't even worth using on
this P200.

I have a Mach64 chipset:

ATI Technologies Inc 3D Rage I/II 215GT [Mach64 GT] (rev 41) 2MB

There is no DRI support for this card (at the moment). Is there anyone out
there working on such a driver? I'm sure a lot of us users would be very
happy ;)

Shawn.

GNOME 1.4.x still, but running TuxRacer totally blew up X/system. I
compared this to win2k and it just blew it out of the water HARD :(

I do not have GT, but I do have GTB (Rage II+DVD) and X seem to work ok
with it. Are you using KDE by any chance ? Something in it (lots of
eye candy I bet) manages to slow down even the fastest cards.

Why don't you try twm first and see if it is any better. Next try
Enlightenment.. I suggest Blue Metal scheme as it is less pixmap
intensive. Also reducing your resolution to 640x480 might speed up things
 as well.
