it's not something terrible, it doesn't break your fun if you know what to do,
my problem is that in some programs OpenGL views is broken, you can see it in
Blender (after minutes of work) then compare it with software renderer, it's
getting worse if you develop your own app and you must switch to software
rendered, becouse on tdfx OpenGL objects are not drawed properly (on TNT,
software renderer or Win32 - they are)

Yes, I have had the problem (kill GL spectrum analyzer window). When I
killed the window, I killed xmms, too. Try out xmms-1.2.5.

I've had XMMS's GL spectrum analyzer plugin (a) kill XMMS when trying to
stop the plugin, and (b) hang the X server (mouse pointer moves still,
everything else is gone). Needless to say, this doesn't make me too happy.

I haven't seen OpenGL problems, but then again I am not a heavy OpenGL user.
I only reported the problem I have personal experience with (I have seen at
least 2 other people report similar/the same problem).

RE: [Dri-devel] Tdfx (fwd)

2001-06-19 Thread Manuel A. McLure

The other reported tdfx problem is the one where changing resolutions can
cause the X server to crash - happens on 4.1.0 and on late pre-4.1.0 DRI
trunk. This is on a V5 5500 in my case. It is not easily reproducible, so I
have not been able to get an X server log (it usually happens when in run
level 5, and the automatic restart of the X server by gdm overwrites
/var/log/XFree86.0.log)

Ah. Right. We've had reports of Banshee problems. But we don't have a Banshee
to test the stuff out on.

Hopefully sometime this week, maybe next I'll be getting a PCI one. I'll take
a look when it arrives.

[Dri-devel] Tdfx (fwd)

2001-06-19 Thread Simon Cahuk

Hi,
I have still problems with the tdfx driver. I think it is a memory related
problem. Te problem wasn't there in X 4.0.3 and before. So I'm asking what
was changed? 'Cos I want use X 4.1.0 but I can't 'cos of this problem. And
to Mike Harris, I think there is a patch for that problem, but only for
RedHat rpm sources. Can I apply that patch (source is from XFree's ftp)?

Thanks

Simon
