Re: [Dri-devel] nForce and AGPGART
Hello! maybe someone should put this issue on the DRI-drivers status table to prevent other people to fall into this trap. for example: AGPGART devices/chipsets: Depends on your Kernel/agpgart modul, most common chipsets should work. Linux users look into agpgart_be.c in your kernelsource. problematic: ALI M1541 with Matrox G200: only AGP 1x supported (source of this info: kernel-config) nVidia nForce has no compatible AGPGART driver yet (source: mailing-list) separate patches for chipsets: (none at the moment) Am 2002.12.03 17:03:52 +0100 schrieb(en) Alan Cox: On Tue, 2002-12-03 at 14:29, Dieter Nützel wrote: Am Dienstag, 3. [Dri-devel] nForce and AGPGART
I tried to install a Radeon 8500 on a system with an nForce-based motherboard but I couldn't direct rendering to work because agpgart failed to load: Linux agpgart interface v0.99 (c) Jeff Hartmann agpgart: Maximum main memory to use for agp memory: 816M agpgart: unsupported bridge agpgart: no supported devices found. Is it true that the nForce is unsupported by agpgart or am I doing something wrong? I looked at the agpgart code in the 2.4.19 gentoo kernel and sure enough I saw no references to nForce or Nvidia in the code and in particular no nForce in the agp_bridge_info array. I tried agp_try_unsupported=1 but that didn't help. Is it true that the nForce is unsupported by agpgart Yes. or am I doing something wrong? No. I looked at the agpgart code in the 2.4.19 gentoo kernel and sure enough I saw no references to nForce or Nvidia in the code and in particular no nForce in the agp_bridge_info array. I tried agp_try_unsupported=1 but that didn't help. Good try. Have a close look at LKML and watch out for some posts from Alan Cox about nForce.
