AFAIK, twisters only have one crtc.

I think you are mixing things up.  mergedfb has nothing to do with
framebuffer devices.  it's a special dualhead mode where both crtcs
point into a shared, "merged," framebuffer, so things like the dri
work in dualhead mode.

OK, my DSL came up this afternoon so I committed the initial merge. 
savage testers/developers, have at it.

Once I have Internet access at home again (should be in the next
couple days once my phone line is repaired), I'll be committing the
DRI merge.  Sorry this is taking so long.  I was ready to commit it
last night, but my phone went out.  Dualhead support will make it in
eventually.  It still needs some clean up and Xv fixes.  I'll probably
get most of that sorted out this weekend.
