[dspace-tech] graceful switch between database connections

I am running an instance with a remote Oracle database. 
Upcoming maintenance on the db cluster will require the instance to switch 
between two connectors

jdbc:oracle:thin:@xxx.princeton.edu:1521:dspace1
jdbc:oracle:thin:@xxx.princeton.edu:1521:dspace2

depending on which node is currently down for maintenance. 

The instance runs on RedHat, with tomcat and Apache 
Is there something that I can plug between DSPACE and the database 
that allows transparent switching - loosing work in some transactions is fine. 
I just want to avoid that the whole site goes down. 

Since this is OS maintenance and will not need to be done any time soon again 
I could just manual manually changed and restart. 

So in brief - if there is something simple - please let me know

Hello Simone,

you usually copy the language catalogues  for the jspui you want to
customize to:
[dspace-source]/dspace/modules/jspui/src/main/resources/
see
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC5x/Localization+L10n#LocalizationL10n-Wheretoedit.1
and edit them there.
You seemed to have copied the original files twice. It is not necessary
to copy them to

[dspace-source]/dspace-api/src/main/resources/

Where did you do your customizations of the language catalogue?

there is no Admin UI feature to move collection/communities. This only
exists for items.

But you can manage community relations with the command line tool
community-filiator see:

How did you move the items via UI or directly via db manipulation?

I'm glad to announce the availability of the 5.5.0 version of 
DSpace-CRIS build on top of DSpace JSPUI 5.5.

The release includes the security fix (medium level) already available 
in DSpace JSPUI 5.5; it solves some configuration issues and bugs 
including the ability to build and deploy the standard DSpace REST 
webapp (provided by the Portuguese RCAAP Team); on top of it, this new 
release adds some exciting new features:


- Global Statistics: to provide a global view over the repository usage, 
visualization, download and deposit trends

I would use this approach

1. permissions, permissions and permissions... you have to avoid direct
   url access to the items.
2. the usual SOLR queries system (searching and browsing) is
   intercepted to exclude results if the user is not logged Some
   coding here...
3. probably you will need to exclude some results from the OAI
   interface, also...or deactivate the OAI...
4. A un-indexing from google and other searchers probably would be
   interesting, also

for non-logged users, but of course the repository is being used  since 
2014...

the language packs are pulled in as a dependency, the ones for the api
and jspui are in
dspace-api-lang
see:
