[dspace-tech] Add disclaimer screen using XMLUI

2017-03-16 Thread Tom Avino

Our system (Dspace 5.5 XMLUI) requires a disclaimer screen before showing
the home screen. In the JSPUI version, we just modified the home.jsp to
include the disclaimer, then created a sitehome.jsp as the new home screen.
I need to basically do the same, but using XMLUI. I am new to XMLUI, so
any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Tom Avino

[dspace-tech] Ghostscript errors

2017-03-16 Thread Bill T
Hi all!

I have recently loaded a bunch of new pdfs, and a large percentage of them
throw an error I have never seen when going through the media filter for
thumbnail generation. I can extract text and view the files, but I cannot
get a thumb.

My ghoscript version is 8.70 and imagemagick is 6.7.2-7

Has anybody seen this before, and if so any ideas on how to fix it??

Thanks a million!

Hi

Try adding uriencodig to your tomcat's connector. Check server.xml,
connector should be like:
 redirectPort="8443" URIEncoding="UTF-8"/>

[dspace-tech] Relation between metadata inside an item

2017-03-16 Thread Gerard Suades

Hi,

I was wondering if there is any way to set a relationship between 2
metadata values in the same item. For instance, a name of a person and
his email.

I have been testing Linked Open Data module in DSpace 6.0 and I couldn't
see any straightforward way to do it.

Does any one has any experience or tip on this specific issue?

Also any experience on Linked Open Data module playing with schemas
other than Dublin Core will be very welcome.

I am testing some highly hierarchical Schemes such as EAD, A2A and EDM,
which have also strong linked multi-valued metadata inside an item.

Thank you in advance,

Re: [dspace-tech] Auto-assign e-person to a group upon registration

2017-03-16 Thread Mark Wood
But please note that "special groups" are assigned to *user sessions*, not
to epersons. Special group membership lasts until logout and is not
recorded anywhere. If you need for a new account to be permanently a
member of a group, so that this membership affects what others do, a
special group won't serve, and you'll have to manually assign permanent
group membership. We probably should have called them "session roles"
rather than "special groups" since there is nothing special about the group.

One thing that isn't affected by special group membership is actions based
on group membership which take place outside of a member's session, such as
the emails that are sent to members of an editorial group during submission
workflow.

If a user only needs group membership within the scope of his own sessions,
then special groups should serve well.

Hi Sean,

you may do this via Batch Metadata Editing:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC5x/Batch+Metadata+Editing#BatchMetadataEditing-EditingCollectionMembership

Another way would be on database level changing the owning collection
and the rebuild the indices.

Hope that helps

Hello Peter,

for users who login with password you can set:
