Re: [dspace-tech] How I can implement external links in Dspace

2019-05-28 Thread Jhon Herrera
Hi there

I changed webui.itemdisplay.default in dspace.cfg, and it works in Dspace,
showing an url.

However when I want to do a serialization process ("Dspace into RDF"
conversion), RDF (ttl format) show me this url as a literal (string using
"")

I have read I have to use <>, but it does not work when fuseki show me RDF
file

How I can to convert a literal in url in Dspace o RDF ttl?

Thanks a lot

Jhon

Re: [dspace-tech] Adding extracted text to Bundle: Text

2019-05-28 Thread Claudia Jürgen

Hello Jacob,

afaik this is not possible via the UI.
Maybe you can use the AIP restore for this:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC6x/AIP+Backup+and+Restore#AIPBackupandRestore-Thedifferencebetween%22Submit%22and%22Restore/Replace%22modes
This should retain the important metadata.

Not sure wheter the simple item import in replace mode will retain the
original handle.

Hope this helps

Hi All,

Is it possible to add Bundle: Text items through the web interface? I've been

able to run through pdfbox and get extracted text for. I'd like to add the
text if possible, but there doesn't appear to be a way to do it in the XMLUI
interface.

[dspace-tech] Navigation Sidebar Customisation on Static Pages in DSpace 6 XMLUI

2019-05-28 Thread 'Benjamin Parkes' via DSpace Technical Support
Hello,

I am a new DSpace developer having recently started working for the
University of Edinburgh's Library Digital Development Team and only have a
minimal amount of experience with development in DSpace.

I am currently developing in DSpace 6 XMLUI using a heavily customised
Mirage II theme. The issue stems from modifying the interface to display
the 'author' and 'subject' dri:list's on the navigation sidebar on my
custom static pages. These do not appear to be displayed in the default
configuration of Mirage II having check the demo site and other
implementations.

My thoughts are that there is somewhere deeper in the DSpace architecture
where the pages on which these facets are displayed is defined but do not
have the knowledge to know where to look. Using a reverse engineering
approach I have located references to a number of .java plugins in
dspace.cfg that are related to the Sidebar Facets that seem like a logical
place to begin but haven't been able to find a solution yet. I have a
feeling I may have to develop a new plugin to handle static pages but hope
there is a simpler solution.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, you have it easy then. I recently had to normalize three or four
variations on "en_US", some almost standard-conforming and some rather
fanciful, as well as cleaning out quite a few "[]"s.

It is, and I don't think so. It seems that, if you don't assign a
language, from the GUI the language is set to NULL (which is IMHO
correct, and will result in no brackets in the export), but some of
the batch tools store "no language given" as the zero-length string,
which is not the same and gives rise to the empty brackets.

> 2) How are they assigned per-field? Through a configuration (if so,
> which)? Based on the field's contents?

The language is specified by the submitter. You might be collecting
items with titles in various languages, for example. You might even
have an item titled in more than one language.

I see that there are no language controls for individual fields on the
submission form, but you can change the language of a metadata value
by editing a completed item (Context | Edit this item) and selecting
the Item Metadata tab.

That is probably why.

That would be a local policy decision. I don't think that DSpace cares.

> 5) is there a way to prevent these bracketed values from being

> metadata CSV complicates our metadata administration workflows.

The zero-length string values are caused by a bug (or perhaps
several). We need to track down all the ways that can happen, and fix
it. I found these issues which seem to be related to the problem:

https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-2174
https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-4169
https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3479
https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-2548

Both "en" and "en_US" are legitimate values. Which one is correct for
a given item would be a local judgment. DSpace could (IMHO should) be
more helpful by rejecting values which are not standard-conforming,
but first we need to specify which standard we use for these values.

[dspace-tech] Can't add zip to Bitstream Format Registry?

2019-05-28 Thread Michael White
Hi,

I've been trying to configure our data repository (DSpace v5.2, JSPUI) to
accept zip files as a known format, but I'm not having much luck . . .

Out of the box, this version of DSpace does not appear to have a Bitstream
Format Registry entry for zip files (?) - so, if I add a zip file to an item
currently, it works fine, but shows the File Format as Unknown (unsupported).

So I added zip to the Bitstream Format Registry:

MIME Type:application/zip
Name: ZIP
Long Desc: ZIP archive
Support Level: Known
Extensions: zip

But, once this in place, when I attempt to upload a zip file it doesn't appear
to work - I see is an orange exclamation mark in the Status column of the
"Files to Upload" table (as I did when the registry entry wasn't there), but
this time, if I click "Next", I'm taken straight to the "Verify Submission"
screen (i.e. not to the "Your file was successfully uploaded" screen that shows
a list of the uploaded files), and if I go Back, the file has definitely not
been added to the Item . . .

Looking in the logs, it appears to be throwing an Internal Server Error:
