[dspace-tech] Is there a way to display the icon for the Community name rather than the text?

2016-02-25 Thread David Schuster
On the front page where it says "Communities in DSpace"

Select a community to browse its collections.

I'd like to display the image associated with the collection rather than
the text...

Thanks for suggestions!

[dspace-tech] I've had a request to put the Submission link under the login

2016-02-12 Thread David Schuster
Making it easier for people to understand "submit articles" and then go to
a login/then to the start a new submission page that they would select "new
submission".

They just want to change the process for potential users to know what to do.

I have not modified XMLUI much so it is still a bit of a black box.

Suggestions?

I would think the VIVO group would have some interest in this as well...???

[dspace-tech] Re: Disk capacity

2015-11-09 Thread David Schuster
We started out with just Dissertations and Thesis, and would have been just
fine, then we started loading archival photos and video projects from
grants and quickly ran out of space. If all you are doing is text you will
be fine as you have outlined. The nice thing about dspace is the ability
to easily add a drive and connect another Asset store when the original
gets full.

[dspace-tech] Workflow notifications

2015-09-18 Thread David Schuster
If an item comes into a workflow - how are the people assigned to that task
notified? Do they have to login or does the system send them an email
notification?

There are some things we would like a department to "validate" but they may
only get a couple submissions a year. How would they know to go in and
look at them?

Thanks
David Schuster

[dspace-tech] Re: Hyperlink into item

2015-09-18 Thread David Schuster

This isn’t pretty, but for now it works. This is something I am exploring
if there is a way we can create a metadata field specifically for Content
URL’s. I’m sure there is, I am just starting to explore how that would
look.

We just added a link to a Video stored on a Google drive and when you open
it hopefully your browser is new enough it works. Video URL is at the top
under the URI for the handle.
