Re: [Dspace-tech] Dspace Metadata

2008-10-29 Thread pavan krishnamurthy
Hi,

Thanks for that reply. One more quick question
To add to the value item pair should we define it as a Metadata, or
else where does this metadata comes into picture when user is trying
to submit his document.

Thanks
Pavan

 Hi Pavan,

the metadataregistry controls the available metadata schemata and their
elements. Adding an element to a schema does not add it to the submission
form, default item display, search and so on.

In order to be available during submission, an element must be defined as
a field in the appropriate form in [dspace]/config/input-forms.xml.

If you just want to add a value to the dc.type list you have to change the
 list of value-pairs in [dspace]/config/input-forms.xml.

 Hope that helps

 Hi all,

This may be stupid question , but please bare with me .

I added a type called journalrt in the metadata registry. Now when i
try to submit a document , i am not able to see the journalrt as a
 type .

What are the changes i need to make to add a type , when we submit a
 document.

 Thanks
 Pavan

[Dspace-tech] searching issues for Spanish

2008-10-29 Thread Alvaro Sandoval
Hi all:

I just found out that the default search analyzer that comes with
out-of-the-box dspace is English-based (which is obvious).

In the dspace.cfg file there is an example to change it for a chinese
analyzer (org.apache.lucene.analysis.cn.ChineseAnalyzer). Is there any
option for Spanish language? I coudn't find an Spanish analyzer in
lucene page:
http://lucene.apache.org/java/2_2_0/api/org/apache/lucene/analysis/Analyzer.html

We have at least 2 problems:
- Stemming. We find different hits searching Energía v/s Energia,
and we would expect the same result.
- Stop words. We have irrelevant words like a, al, de, del. And
we would like to exclude them from the searching process, unless the
user wanted exact search. How can I define those stop words?

Regards,

It looks to me as though half the handle is missing. I don't know what
would cause that!

The path to the image in the generated HTML is

when entered into a browser returns an error. The Cocoon stacktrace is:

 context:/file://dspace/app/tomcat/webapps/xmlui/sitemap.xmap -

The Java stacktrace is, well, too long to copy here.

The relevant chunk of the sitemap.xmap code is:

  map:match pattern=bitstream/id/*/**
 map:read type=BitstreamReader
 map:parameter name=bitstreamID

 /map:read
 /map:match

Any help on understanding what's going on?

Looks like you might be running the Media Filter with the GCJ version of
Java. Have you tried using a JDK from Sun? They're available here:

[Dspace-tech] Updating data within a specific metadata element for all items across a specified collection

2008-10-29 Thread Sten Christensen
Hi all

Is there a away to update the data within a specific metadata element
across a specified collection without API? I have a collection of 350
items and I need to change the text within the description element. The
text will be the same across all items.

I thought I saw something about this on the list some time ago but could
not find reference to it in the archive.

Thanks
Sten
