 [ on Chinese / mandariam / Pinyin characters ]

Hi Emily,

Have a look at UTF-8 for your database and DSpace installation(s).

Hi Van Ly,

Thanks for the help, but I have yet another problem.
I have metadata in Chinese and put on DSpace, but for research it can not
detect those characters in mandariam, know how to send in addition to solving
the problem?
I was searching about the Pinyin, but not found yet how to use it in DSpace.
Thank you if they can help

[ wanting to copy and transfer DSpace on media, such as CD ]

Hi Emily

Depending on how big your DSpace is, the capacity of one CD may not be
enough. Two places I know of for meta/data are:

1/ the location of the assetstore for as defined in dspace.cfg for data
2/ and a dump of the backend database for metadata

Perhaps, stopping DSpace, copy the meta/data, transfer, restore are the
sequence of steps you should follow.

Using rsync() or robocopy.exe across the network or to a large capacity
portable device is an option for the transfer stage.

Best wishes

[Dspace-tech] New metadata missing. Just a dash(-) in browse display list. It was already added in itemlist.columns

2009-05-25 Thread Reina Camacho
Hello all,

I am trying to add a column to browse display list. I tried adding an
standard metadata dc.subject to the browse
display and it works just fine. But I would like to do the same with a piece
of custom metadata
called dc.date.StartCapture. I defined this metadata, and have been using it
for some time. It shows up on the item display, and has done everything
we've asked of it
up until now. So, today, I added it to the appropriate places in the
dspace.cfg:

webui.browse.index.6 = StartCapture:metadata:dc.date.StartCapture:date

webui.itemlist.sort-option.5 = StartCapture:dc.date.StartCapture:date

webui.itemlist.columns = thumbnail, dc.date.StartCapture(date),
dc.date.issued(date),
dc.title, dc.contributor.*

And I added it already in webui.itemdisplay.default.

Then I did [dspace]/bin/index-init. Now there's a column for
Capture, but all it shows is a
dash(-) :-( . Could you help me to solve this? It is really urgent...

Thanks

[Dspace-tech] Can Structure Builder create communities/collections in an existing structure (V1.5.1)?

2009-05-25 Thread Franzini, Gabriele [Nervianoms]
Hello all,
>From our tests, it seems that Structure Builder from XML file can only
build a structure starting from a NEW top-level community.

If I try to specify the identifier of an existing top-level community in
the input XML file, I get this error message:

The following errors were encountered parsing the source XML
No changes have been made to the DSpace instance
-There are no top level communities in the source document

Is there some way to build a structure via XML file, stemming from an
EXISTING community level?

Thanks a lot in advance,
